I'm not really here Posted Sep 4, 2000
I want to go to this meeting! I can make Oxford, it's not too far from my home.
I will offer my house as cheap accomodation if people don't mind kipping on the floor. It might be difficult to make it back from Oxford if you intend to be out late, but the offer is there. (I live in Essex, really near London.)

Mmmmmm pictures...*realises she's dropped her cover*...err I mean why are you showing me pictures when I just have the upmost respect for him as a Formula 1 driver and the future world champion the fact that some people might find him very attractive hasn't entered into it
Anyway several responses all at once,
1) A better picture is the one of me and Jenson Button when I met him at Silverstone this year...in fact did I ever tell you about the time...
2) The caption beneath the picture of me and Jenson Button on the BMW williams website was so not true and for anyone who still believes I was his delighted screaming teenage fan I must protest that I supported him through his F3 days and I wasn't delighted just mildly happy and I definitely wasn't screaming...
3) He's not young, he's my age
4) Why does Btinternet haunt me?
5) So Oxford it is then?
BTW do you think we should rename this the Jenson Button meet-up

So where's everyone decided? (I like Nottingham personally - central, great pubs, big park)

I've decided London, as it's really convenient for me, but I expect I'd be on my own.
I'll go anywhere really, but my car only does 60mph, so hopefully not too far, otherwise it would take me all day to get there.

I can't help but think London would be the best bet.... its the only place I'd be able to go to for a day if need be...
...but the good of the many outweighs the good of the one.

Well, that's two so far Joanna, and if people want to stay overnight, I did offer my (very small) house, just bring sleeping bags.

Hmmm, this is going to sound foolish but I don't really fancy wandering around London alone so I wouldn't be able to go *wonders why everyone is suddenly voting for London as their choice*
Also Oxford's so much better as anyone who wanted to drive to it would be completely stuck trying to park overnight in London...
And it has the best cookie shop which I can't believe hasn't swayed more people

Parking is free on the meters at weekends in London.
(Not that I'm biased or anything.)

So are we having two rival meet-ups here or can we come to some kind of agreement?

Navigation by tube...
The thing I have against Oxford is that it takes 5 hours to get there from Durham... and the last trains back are really early... 7.30pm for durham and 8.30 for Manchester, during the week. If I made it from Durham I don't have anyone whom I could reasonably force to have me to stay, besides which I'd be completely exhausted by travelling.
Thing about London is that its a major route centre as far train travel is concerned - trains go late from there, and if we go to a pub surely train travel would be preferable but I don't know. Is this page featured on the front page? 'cuz it strikes me that not terribly many people have given there 2p worth as yet.
