I'm not asking about a French word, a sport, wind farms, water wheels or looping the loop. I'm sure someone can lift the lid on this, it's easy!

Okay, here's a list ...
It's a new metro line in Paris.
It's a tin used for cat-food, the one with the ring pull on.
It's a meteorological satellite.
It's an old rocket.
It's an image compositing system.
It's the French name for Aelous (lord of the winds).
It's a database on Belgian cultural heritage.
It's the name of a steam powered aeroplane.
Now, could you have possibly asked a more ambiguous question?

It's about 26 centimeters.
How did you know I had a piece of string?

Did you read post 1721 and 1723? The questions were not ambiguous. One of your answers is almost right.

"It's a tin used for cat-food, the one with the ring pull on."
An eole is a food tin (like cat food or tomatoes) with a ring pull that removes the end of the tin. You can find them in most supermarkets.
And that is how the maker of the tin describes it!

Enough of this questions malarky - let's talk string!

Is that string theory, pasta, garden twine, or just plain old string ...

LOL.
A googlesearch yesterday gave me a load of 'french' sites mostly about 'pilots' and 'berkois' - like it was some sort of kite flying or 'human powered' flight club - and today there's lots of 'windmill' sites from the oldest classic tulip-surrounded Dutch type to spaceage turbine generators.
So, it's in the swirling propblade category somewhere.
Is it the BMW logo?

An eole is not only for cat food. To put you straight on this we make eoles for many types of food tin e.g fruit, baked beans, soup and pet food. The eole is not the tin, it is the lid - easy open lever end. If you look at the printed end some are symbolic insructions other are writen. Pet food ends can be multi coloured most are just black or have no printed area. Eole lids are about 10 times more expensive than plain lid.
