Doh! As the world's greatest Gracie Slick fan I shoulda got that one. Must admit to some admiration for the Chantywrassler knowing all those albums; he musta been but a wee sprout in those heady days when I was 'acid-bathing at Baxters'.

While I'm sitting excitedly by the door waiting for my valuable prize , I'll either pass away noisily or try and think up some question for tonight.
Don't know anything about them jwf, first track I heard was The Damned doing White Rabbit
White Rabbit. I wanna rabbit. White rabbit. A rabbit of my own.
Chantywrassler Two pounds a month and you too can be a CNUT Posted Mar 28, 2003
One word to link the following (not that one) please
A member of the Norwegian Armed Forces
An air-to-surface missile
A ship which took part in the war of 1812
A Canadian film version of a fairy tale
A naughty song from 1973
A Town in Tasmania
A Monty Python Sketch
Should that lot lead to the desired outbreak of confused apathy I'll add other clues at various odd hours and/or make those ones easier.
Anyone getting the answer from those clues has bribed me.
White Rabbit. I wanna rabbit. White rabbit. A rabbit of my own.
~ jwf ~ scribblo ergo sum Posted Mar 28, 2003
No bribes are, were or will be offered or accepted from this researcher .
However, the original film version of "Heavy Metal" comix was produced and voiced by the likes of John Candy and several other SCTV regulars so that's probably the Canadian fairytale. We aren't big on fairies here, and Beaver are probably what spring to mind first when someone mentions tail.
So 'metal' may be the common denominator here...
But I can't proove it yet.

Based on your guess ~jwf~ then the 1812 ship will probably be the USS Constitution nicknamed old ironsides
White Rabbit. I wanna rabbit. White rabbit. A rabbit of my own.

Canadians....Monty Python.....naughty songs....
All together now!
I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK, I sleep all night and I work all day

Damn, no one bribed me.
Nice one Luckystar, you can now add "hang around in bars" to that song link, but four wrongs don't make a war bulletin.
I like the concept of a Canadian fairytale featuring the ugly duckling who was transformed into the even uglier vulture.
The US Ship involved with the one below does have a modern namesake, but I think it's a tourist attraction.

I absolutely refuse to have anything to do with yet another thread contaminated with these repellent Antarctic vermin.
(Reckon that the correct date for the Hornet's engagement with Pingu was 1815, BTW)

Good God - there really is one in Tasmania!
Didn't know the 1973 song, but sure enough, here it is :
http://www.lyrics.ly/lyrics.php/Zappa+Frank/Roxy+And+Elsewhere/Penguin+In+Bondage
Still unsure about the "domestic explosion", but there was definitely another Python reference :
An [unmentionanle]'s brain is smaller than a man's.
If you make the [unmentionable] as big as the man, then it's brain is still smaller than the man's.
...But, and this is the important point...it's bigger than it was before...
(how sad are those of us of a certain generation?)
*sighs*
So, the answer is....
...no, still can't bring myself to say it...
White Rabbit. I wanna rabbit. White rabbit. A rabbit of my own.

Yeah, the war of 1812 did seem to drag on a bit didn't it? Maybe the war of 1812 got all the headlines and the fisticuffs of 1813-1815 were consigned to the obituaries pages.
What if I say "Linux"? Will that help your speech impediment?
White Rabbit. I wanna rabbit. White rabbit. A rabbit of my own.

Apart from the genuine aversion to hordes of morons in dinner-jackets stinking of guano, there was another reason for not answering, quite, kind of.
Only I won't be on line much for about a week, yeah?
So why did I...? Well, right, fair comment, but it didn't look like they were going to get it, so I thought I'd be helpful, OK?
Yeah. A prat. OK. Probably.
Yeah, OK, like...sorry...I'll make it up to you. Have a .
