Well the latter seems to be the favoured reaction. Maybe all the mates had been cast adrift with Captain Bligh?

Good, so that's,
Peter Heywood (well done Pinniped), Sicily, and the delightful Pierson's Puppeteers (well done Wumbeevil).
As you got two out of the three, Wumbeevil, I guess I'll hand the baton over to you.

Absolutely no trains are involved in this question, tho it was tempting:
What is the musical connection between the following:-
A Bonzo's track from Gorilla
Fred Wedlock's greatest hit
A U2 album
A well-known Tom Lehrer song
A Rick Wakeman track from the mid-70's
A Peter Tosh album
A Plastic Ono Band album
Enjoy your Googling

Beatrice Posted Mar 7, 2003
well, just to underline my serious musical credentials, I know the Fred Wedlock one (Oldest swinger in town?) but the others are a bit vague.....

Researcher U197087 Posted Mar 7, 2003
I believe I've got this one (though belief is of course, a pretty tenuous concept at the best of times)
But I think they refer to the Bible, specifically the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt.. these are the ones I've got.
A Bonzo's track from Gorilla - ?
Fred Wedlock's greatest hit - OLDEST Swinger (Moses)
A U2 album - The Unforgettable FIRE or the JOSHUA Tree
A well-known Tom Lehrer song - ?
A Rick Wakeman track from the mid-70's - ?
A Peter Tosh album - BUSH doctor
A Plastic Ono Band album - MILK AND HONEY
Any close?

Tom Lehrer song - Vatican Rag
*sings*
First you get down on your knees
Fiddle with your rosaries
Bow your head with great respect and
Genuflect - genuflect
Very clever song

Wumbeevil Posted Mar 7, 2003
So far the only right answer has been Fred Wedlock.
Nice try with the Bible, but instead of bowing your heads, try casting your eyes heavenward.

Well, I was thinking about Greek mythology for a while (Bonzos-Narcissus, Lehrer-Oedipus Rex), but that didn't seem to pan out.

Pipe down Master B You're the closest yet, but remember it's a musical connection between all seven answers I'm looking for.

Hey! I've got it...
They all have a musical connection.
We're dying out here. Perhaps a hint, a clue or a bit more 'specificity' for we the musically declined?
(And, unless Jamaica is a still a colony, there's no UK connection, right?) * Begs for input*

Wumbeevil Posted Mar 7, 2003
Another one? There have been two big hints and a nod in Master B's direction
*dodges *
OK, OK I'll rephrase some of them.
There is a UK connection, but it's unimportant and shouldn't handicap anyone outside this septic isle.
A Bonzo's track from Gorilla involving
Fred Wedlock's greatest hit - the OLDEST swinger in town
An early U2 album beloved by Edwin Starr
The best-known(?) Tom Lehrer song
A Rick Wakeman track from King Arthur
An alliterative Peter Tosh album
A Canadian Plastic Ono Band album
I'll be away on a session 12 hours from now , so hurry up that inspiration.

As a Canadian I have to deny any knowledge of any Plastic Ono band album having anything to do with this fine country.
It is a myth, a folk legend, never happened. And Give Peace a Chance was not recorded in a Montreal Hotel Room.
Carry on, then.

Ooo. Ooo. Ooo. ** J E S U S !**
I've always wanted to shout that on a forum and not be flaming anyone.
----------------------------------------------------------
Thought Process:
A Bonzo's track from Gorilla
"Jollity Farm" or even "Look Out There's A Monster Coming"
Shepard? Jesus?
Fred Wedlock's greatest hit
"The OLDEST Swinger in Town"
Adam? Jesus?
An early U2 album beloved by Edwin Starr
“War”
Armageddon? Good v. Evil: Jesus v. Anti J? (A Don King Event)
The best-known(?) Tom Lehrer song
“The Vatican Rag”
Cross? Rome? Pope? More Jesus?
A Rick Wakeman track from King Arthur
“The Last Battle”
Armageddon? Jesus' second coming?
An alliterative Peter Tosh album
“Mystic Man”
Jesus Christos?
A Canadian Plastic Ono Band album
"Two Virgins"? Or, by ~jwf~ an *imaginary* album.
Mary? J? Second coming of the J?

Hope it's right, otherwise I'm out.

>> I got the right thread this time! <<
Right needle too !
Stitch in time as they say.
Sew... y'got HeyZeus on your mind huh?
And two (count 'em) two references to Armageddon too.
(Ever see anybody use all three spellings of to, too, two in a sentence before ? )
Anyway, enuff of my teasing the new guy.
I'll leave you in the capable hams of dear old friend Wumbeevil who will no doubt have something to say about your interest in sheep and I'll give ya two to one odds he'll poopoo your jesus theory.

Again, I have to say it... "So you think this Jesus thing is a load of b******t?" Fair enough, it was a stretch. I don't take bad bets, though.
I'm of to a fine Peruvian dinner. Got a hot date!

You'd make a great bookie jwf - never give the punter a chance of fair odds.
Well that's added a few half-answers
So far we've got:-
Bonzo's track from Gorilla involving - JOLLITY farm
Fred Wedlock's greatest hit - the OLDEST swinger in town
An early U2 album beloved by Edwin Starr - WAR
The best-known(?) Tom Lehrer song
A Rick Wakeman track from King Arthur
An alliterative Peter Tosh album - MYSTIC man
A Canadian Plastic Ono Band album - disinformation fresh from the land of the Dionites
Change noted in jwf's signing off line. Do I sense a certain reluctance to set a question
