Ouch! Sounds painful...hope all better by now smiley - smiley So far I've found water and 'eisel' (vinegar... smiley - erm) in the sonnets..but there must be something more alcoholic than those I imagine smiley - winkeye

smiley - rofl .. nooooo .. the sonnets will not refer to drinks .. but I guess all plays refer to "wine" .. smiley - redwine so to speak smiley - biggrin

Richard II probably doesn't hold any reference to beer, ale, wine, .. could it be this is one of the most boring ones?

The porter in Macbeth deserves a special reference! because he describes what good drinking does

Porter

'Faith sir, we were carousing till the
second cock: and drink sir, is a great
provoker of three things.

MACDUFF

What three things does drink especially provoke?

Porter

Marry, sir, nose-painting, sleep, and
urine. Lechery, sir, it provokes, and unprovokes;
it provokes the desire, but it takes
away the performance: therefore, much drink
may be said to be an equivocator with lechery:
it makes him, and it mars him; it sets
him on, and it takes him off; it persuades him,
and disheartens him; makes him stand to, and
not stand to; in conclusion, equivocates him
in a sleep, and, giving him the lie, leaves him.

smiley - rofl A cautionary tale indeed! Enough to put one off alcohol for life...well, for a night or two anyway smiley - winkeye

If you need an smiley - artist I'll be glad to volunteer smiley - smiley
But I'll be in Yorkshire for a few days from Friday, so it will have to be a very long brush... smiley - laugh

smiley - roflsmiley - rofl my side of the fence faces east .. so not only a really long brush, but also .. smiley - rofl

and I don't think I'll have a van Gogh on the fence .. or Rembrandt..

smiley - rofl Well you could still sign the bottom right hand corner when it's all painted smiley - winkeye

smiley - biggrin I thought a landscape, trees, river, .. would that be too traditional?

HaPi - Pitch 20 - not far from the shop

Post 492

Elfrida

smiley - rofl But then unsuspecting people might confuse the fence for the landscape and try to gallop through it? And need a smiley - nurse for the shock... smiley - laugh
Yorkshire was the stormiest I've ever encountered it...real Cathy/Heathcliffe country with lightning bolts! smiley - yikes

HaPi - Pitch 20 - not far from the shop

Post 493

Hapi - Hippo #5

smiley - rofl yes exactly, the neighbour is a registered and qualified smiley - nurse so galloping into the fence wouldn't be much of a problem. and each pole is anchored in 50 kg concrete so galloping into that would .. smiley - headhurts indeed smiley - evilgrin

smiley - rofl .. thunder, lightning.. on a night like that the sleepers in that quiet earth stop their unquiet slumbers and roam the moors, forever haunting one another smiley - evilgrin

well.. did you go out on the moors to meet them?

HaPi - Pitch 20 - not far from the shop

Did I 'eck as like...! smiley - rofl I stayed sensibly by the fire watching the meteorological mayhem wreak itself across the landscape (something wrong with that sentence grammatically I think, but you get the picture smiley - winkeye )

Hapi - Hippo #5

smiley - rofl ah .. so you're not one of the hardcore country side moor inhabitants? walking for hours and hours through drizzling rain, chilly fog, and occasional thunderstorm? carefully finding your way through the marshes, knowing that one wrong step may result in your boots filling up with filthy watery subtance smelling of things that died a long time ago? and delighting in hearing the sound of a pack of hungry wolves coming nearer and nearer?

good smiley - biggrin .. sensible idea to sit it out by the fire I think

smiley - wow.. lighting, thunder, rain, huge hailstones ... smiley - wow.. a huge storm (the fence holds!) backyard is flooding and so is the street.. 2 inches water I guess.. smiley - wow ..

smiley - rofl(Late reply to your earlier post) smiley - rofl Well I have the accoutrements (sp?) of moor- and fell-walking as befits a well-brought-up young (well I was once!) lady in Britain: the green waxed jacket;the checked shirt purloined from some unsuspecting male chum;Sherlock Holmes deerstalker with earflaps; the all-terrain boots and (in current conditions) the wellies (regulation olive-green of course!); the tweedy skirt or/and corduroy trousers...However my skills in avoiding the actual exercise are legendary from Wales to Yorkshire and beyond! smiley - winkeye

smiley - rofl never mind the rain, and smiley - ta but the house is safe .. the backyard is transformed into marshlands .. smiley - blackcat has problems there.. not just belly on the ground; he's used to that. Now it's also belly through the water ..(well over 8 kg).. he came in to protest but he couldn't clearly explain his point. With some luck mice are fairly easy to catch now: cold and almost drowning.

.. smiley - rofl .. moor and fell-walking.. yes, I can easily picture the outfit smiley - rofl .. and "skills in avoiding the actual exercise"? .. AH! so it's you! smiley - rofl ..

smiley - sorry, kidding.. your skills are not quite known yet in NL smiley - rofl .. smiley - sorry for that smiley - biggrin
