FACTS ON THE EGYPTIAN BAST
Names: Bast, Bastet, Ailuros
Patron of: the sun (originally), the moon (after the Greeks), cats, women, and secrets.
Appearance: A desert cat, or a woman with the head of a cat (this form possibly dates after the domestication of the Egyptian wild cat).
Description: Probably the most famous Egyptian goddess after Isis, Bast was said to be the daughter of Ra, though long after he created the primal gods. She was originally a sun goddess, but after contact with the Greeks, she changed to a moon goddess, probably due to the Greeks associating her with Artemis.
Like Artemis, Bast was a wild goddess. To those who were in her favor, she gave great blessings, but her wrath was legendary and she was sometimes listed as one of Ra's avenging deities who punish the sinful and the enemies of Egypt. This is of course in keeping with her totem animal, the cat. Cats were sacred to Bast, and to harm one was deemed a great transgression. Bast's importance in the Egyptian pantheon might be due to the great value placed on the domesticated cat by the Egyptians. Cats curtailed the spread of disease by killing vermin, and though the idea of microbes was unknown to the ancient Egyptians, they must have noticed the connection between rats and disease.
Her worship was widespread, and her cult apparently had a great deal of power. Bubastis was even the capital of Egypt for a time during the Late Period, and some pharaohs took her name in their king-names. Herodotus' description of her temple at Bubastis is that of a place of great splendor and beauty, rivaled only by the temples to Ra and Horus.
Worship: Worshipped widely throughout Egypt, her cult center was at Bubastis.
END OF FACTY BIT
-------------------------------------
A desert planet - the kind Egyptian themed Gould tend to like.
The Capital is Bubastis.
There are several gould living on this planet, all under Bast's rule, though there are a few troublesome rebels.
The soldiers are all female and wear feline masks and have claw hand weapons.
The typical method of execution is to be eaten by cats - the worse the punishment the smaller the cat.
Cats are sacred accidentally standing on one and annoying it will get you flogged, accidentally standing on one and killing it will get the punishment above.
Bast is catlike and sits on a large throne with a moon and sun sign behind her. She is a subtle Goddess and rules through secrets rather than force, though she is very vengeful she is also very gracious. She is always utterly surrounded by felines who seem to adore her, and she has a pet lion. She serves her own purposes and despises vermin.
Her slaves tend to live fairly well for slaves of a ghould (not that well), though those that are obediant throughout their lives, or tell Bast of disobedience are permitted to indulge in luxury.

The Stargate is located at the foot of the steps going up to Bast's palace, in the middle of the Capital City. There are four guards during the night at the top of the steps. The other side of the stargate to the palace is a large gold and silver pool around which ceremonies are performed every hour or so to Bast as the sun and moon Goddess.

Bast strokes a hand along the spine of a cat on her throne armrests. The spine arches as the cat purrs it's pleasure.
"Humans? Humans are turning Jaffa against their masters? Humans are aiding the Tokra? Humans have allied with the Asgard?"
Bast's face is one of perplexed consternation.
"You say it was those from the planet that rebelled against my father, Ra? I thought it was mere chance that they managed to knock off that old fool."
Bast sighs.
"Prepare my sarcophogus. But first send an emissary to one of the other system rulers. We need to do something about this threat. Perhaps... yes. Shiva. Send him an emissary."
A pair of bulky Cat-Knights in golden armour bow and depart out the front of the temple, while a slender one in silver heads upstairs to prepare Bast's sarcophogus.

*The Stargate activates. A man with four gaurds appears through the event horizon. The man in the center is tall and stronly built. Oddly, he has four arms, two fleshy and tanned, two metallic and golden. A necklace of skulls adourns his neck and serpants and yellow sashes gird his armor. The four men around him are masked as demons and carry their Staff Weapons with confidence. They wear yellow sashes, and their Staffs are trident style.*
Hail to thee, Bastet!

*All the humans fall to their knees and cover their faces as Bastet emerges from her temple, dressed in a simple white robe, two silver amazon cat-masked jaffa at her left, two golden at her right*
Hail to thee, Shiva.
I thank you for answering my call.
I offer you the hospitality of my planet, and my temple.
*she and her enclave walk down the steps to him, she embraces him formally, then walks with him back up the steps where slaves instantly and anxiously rush to see to his comfort*

*Bastet laughs and settles on a cushion beside Shiva, cats rubbing themselves up against her*
Yes...
*she turns to the slaves serving*
Go.
*they scamper off*
Yes, these days they say that slaves are rebelling by the dozen. Even the Jaffa rebel. Fortunately I have not yet had this problem. Those Gould who have were weak rulers.
I personally rule by the simplest code; reward the obedient greatly, and punish the rebellious severely.
However, the problem grows worse. The Tokra grow in strength. And the rumours are that it is the people of Earth who are causing the problem. The earthlings are the first slave-humans who the Asguard have deemed worthy of contact. There can be no denying or hiding from it any longer. They have become a threat, and a threat that we must... ah.. nip in the bud before it worsens.
