*with Kes's help they sit on the sofa*

so. where do we go from here? how did you keep your feelings inside?

*pours two generous glasses of whisky from the table beside her, and passes one to Kes*

*looks at her hands, sees the ring on her left finger*

and so close to the wedding as well?? oh dear. Matt... for a moment I'd forgotten about him...

*Kes accepts the drink gratefully. It's a bit short on the water, but the sting in the throat gives him an excuse to gulp and blink.*

Well, I've had years of practice at not showing feelings. To be honest, I'm surprised I hid them from you so successfully ... maybe you knew anyway?

*Another mouthful of the whisky - more time to think*

And I feel much safer telling you - not anyone else ... and in the end, I couldn't not tell anyone, could I?

*thinks back over the short time that they have known each other, the inital meeting, Poco Island and all the chaos that provided, the poetry, the sainting... so much in such a short time...*

*she looks at Kes, and wonders how such a man could possibly feel anything towards her. Kind, considerate, caring...*

*she sighs inwardly, and circles the ring on her finger, obviously in turmoil within...*

oh Kes... I just wish...

*she trails off, and takes a large gulp of the whisky...*

So do I, but some things we don't control.

Wish, if you like - wish for what you like. I wished for a true friend, and I have one. I wish for other things .... who knows? ... but take care - remember my favourite proverb?

"Be very careful what you wish for, in case your wish is granted"

I wished for you to read what was in the note ... and you have read it. My wish has come true.

*Chokes quietly on more whisky*

*curls up quietly in the corner (complete with large bottle of whisky and very good book) and tries not to interrupt proceedings...*

*Kes looks up from his glass, and gives Tweetie a look, a short half-smile and a nod, hoping to convey something like:

"Hi. Thanks for the supplies ... funny old world, isn't it?"

*He resumes the inspection of his glass, after wiping a bit of imaginary dust out of the corner of his eye.*

that hay-fever still bothering you Kes? Here, take a Kleenex...

*is unsure what to say to the man sat before her... take one of his hands and holds it close to her...*

no matter what happened in the past we walked out the other side. we'll get through this in the same way, well, at least once i can walk properly anyway...

now come give me a hug you siily fool!

*The silly fool puts aside his whisky, and kneels down next to FC, so as to gratefully accept the hug.*

Thank you, angel. You're absolutely right - as usual. You bet we'll walk out ... and if you're in a hurry, I know a place where i can borrow a wheelchair Thanks.

*Releases from hug, blows nose, smils and sits on carpet next to FC*

a wheelchair? now thats an idea... Actually sitting here has made me realise how much we need a heavenly garden... I think I've found my first heavenly project!

oh we'll need all sorts of flowers and stuff... I can half see it now... *jots down info on paper...*

now. *leans against Kes...* I could do with another drink...

Drink coming up. The usual?
*Kes heads to the drinks cupboard, trying to remember the recipe for White Russian*

*While mixing the WR, Kes reckons that He will probably be OK about anything with butterflies in it ... after all, He gets enough bad press about "Acts of God" like floods and storms ... butterflies are "Acts of God" too*

Here you are - your favourite... and another Scotch for me ... but with more water this time!
Will there be space for a pond? amybe even a tiny stream ..

I was definitely thinking of a water-feature, possibly a fountain or something... trust me to think of something like this totally out of the blue...

now. if I split the garden into different areas, then if people want their own little spot it can be added later... we could have a herb garden, vegetable patch for those that want to grow their own veggies, rose garden, fountain and stream....

*mind wanders...*

*Sits and watches the wandering process. A garden is a good place for a mind to wander in - very soothing*
