I've been through a few times in the last few years, but i never saw anyone around, so i didn't stay more than a few visits. I've finally gotten dsl at home, and have my schedule down to a manageable size, so i'm HERE!!! *silent thanks*

I've had my eye out for GB, but haven't seen her yet. Hopefully she'll drop in- she's one of the few that i've spoken with here and there when i dropped in... as for right now, I've been spending a lot of time cleaning up the home page, checking in on old friends *hugs nim back* and wandering around poking my nose into every door i can find.

So what've you been up to? where'd you go- now your back for a few months? what took you away? what was it like coming back?

you won't find them on my page - iran is not under the copyright law. legally, i have done nothing wrong here, but it isn't polite of me to go and post the names too.

falern (who was a member for a time) and me got involved ion a very nice group of people involved in children's literature. i've been busy doing the translations and writing articles, not much in quantity but it seems good enough to be called by the magazines for new articles

i was emotionally in a bad place 4 years ago. especially after the 9.11 attacks it was very difficult for me to comunicate with people here. i had nightmares about stuff happening to iran that is now happening in iraq. so i stopped posting.

the success of the books - not sales but finding a publisher - and finding people who considered me as an expert in my chosen field of sf&f instead of a deranged crackpot helped a lot with my selfconfidence. and i've been seeing a therapist for about a year now, and the homeopathic treatments seem to be working too, so all in all i'm a lot better.

of course, that doesn't stop me planning elaborate ways to kill my brother...

i've found a very nice young researcher this time around who writes articles about islam, and we tend to get into discussions on the peer review forum and Hell has to get us back on topic all the time, so yes, this time around it is a bit more fun for me.

i've build an iranian tea-house, it isn't finished yet (terminal laziness...), but feel free to drop in any time for tea, pastries and fresh fruit (the still for original persian alcoholic beverages is not up yet, sorry )

It sounds like you've sure been through a lot! what was the convention you were the speaker at, may i ask? i used to love making speeches when i was in college- now the mere idea gives me chills in my knees!

As for the tea house, i'm looking forward to it! i'll be by for a cuppa this evening!

trying not to screem at my local councaler (long boring story) and as much goofing off as possable as i am off work for a few weeks
