Hallo! ox, I'm doing my pork with sauerkraut & apples, but it's a big roast, and I am thinking to have shredded pork with that black bean recipe later in the week. Is that a proper combo?

Looney, a good yarn deserves repetition. And that's a good yarn. I found a nice picture of Bestie you might not have seen before, and maybe I'll put it in the gallery with the other beautiful objects.

Professor, the lack of holidays is the most amazing thing you have said yet about San Beta. A bureaucracy that doesn't have Bank Holidays? No three-day weekends? No office parties?

Chickens! Thanks, Loony. Lil, combo right on. My feast is finally prepared; problem is I filled up on snacks watching a football game. I think I'll eat all night and sleep through tomorrow.

"Yo Lil! Haven't seen you about recently so thought I'd better drop by and wish you a Beery Xmas and a Bonkin' New Year. Have a small for you and a Christmas. Had a rather outrageous time in our bar last night. I won 2 prizes in the Christmas Raffle, had oysters and champagne for my evening meal, then free Heineken until midnight. Boy was I a happy, wasted camper. Just received the photos by e-mail. If you haven't yet visited my new improved space, please do so over the festive season as it is becoming the home of ~h2g2 a go-go~ which is a bit of fun. I'll post the most embarrassing photo of last night I can find. The best news is, I'm out of here tomorrow morning. Look out Princess Toy, Kabuki Man is on his way."

I see the festivities have begun...things are quiet around the barrio here.

Oho! Matina has baked a stollen! *helps herself to a slice with tea*

I had a lovely evening. Worked at a tintype restoration that looked like a dime-a-dozen seated woman next to urn and which is turning out to be Beastly ornament with Beautiful girl. She was sloe-eyed, full-lipped, buxom, corsetted, innocent... The urn was brass, fat, overdecorated and cynical. I also spent a couple of hours chatting on IM with Mike (whose sometimes-delayed replies suggest that he is also chatting to several others at the same time, and art which I have never mastered).

And my pork was divine, convection-roasted and juicy. The apple slices took nearly all the vinegar out of the sauerkraut and, after 15 year's of dad's stringent criticisms, ("too sticky", "too thin", "not enough lumps" etc.) I reckon I would have got at least a B+ for the mashed spuds I turned out.

And I have had some lovely RL prezzies this morning. So, what's under the tree besides all those boxes of lovely smelling cookies?

What will y'all be doing today? I shall be installing Canvas SE, doing more with Urn Girl and maybe trying to play Alice again. Listen, I really got spooked when it stuck and endlessly repeated the phrase "suppress your behaviour"...

*Runs up the stairs, clicking his heels together*

Well, I'm havin' a pretty good Christmas. Lots of books by K A Applegate (scorn me if you will, but I've grown attached to her stories), something called a Dreamcast, a movie,...but best of all,...

*Reaches into his pocket and pulls out a recordable CD*

An official CD of all of the games entered in this year's Interactive Fiction competition! I'm gonna have fun with *this* thing! Especially when I go over Stefano's game. I helped Beta Test that one.

Is Christmas Dinner going to be done soon? I'm not sure if I'll have time for more than this one post today.

Dinner is ready, Affi! We never tried the Time Dilation button on the timer before, but it works a treat. Matina was able to start the turkey when she had time to do all the basting, then just throw the thing on hold when it was almost done.

What is a dreamcast? An augury machine? *has another slice of stollen*

A Sega Dreamcast is a console video game system, with graphics that can only be beaten by Playstation 2, which is still inferior because it just isn't Sega. Along with video games of the highest graphic and sound content (not the best quality, you understand, that's an area where Interactive Fiction will always rein supreme), it can allow you to connect to the Internet via your television set. All in all, it's a thing for breeding a sub-species of human known only as the Couch Potatoe. I shall be using it to play a game, and possibly connecting to the Internet when I'm feeling so lazy that I won't walk the twelve steps to the computer, but other than that I'll probably still use my older Console system (the Sega Genesis).

But what's more, I got this.

*Waves the Interactive Fiction CD over his head a few more times*

Lots of nice games on this. Over seventy brand-new text adventures, most of which I've never even started playing! If my CD Drive on my RL computer worked, I could pop it in right now and start playing Yet Another Game With A Dragon (yes, that's actually the name of a game in it), Guess The Verb (another real game), Return To Zork: Another Story (I helped to Beta Test *this* game, which is why I'm really looking forward to it), Bap (I don't even know what the title's supposed to mean), and a bunch of other stuff.

Plus, I also downloaded all of the Commander Keen games onto my computer (a classic series of video games made by ID Software). I've got enough video games to last me a while now.

Hmmm, h2g2 or computer/console games...h2g2 or computer/console games...maybe these Christmas gifts are curses in disguise.

Will the dreamcast cast for email? you should be checking yours, you know.

I'll check right now. Although I don't really think that the Dreamcast will let me do that. Guess I'll have to use the computer...grumblemumblegrumble...
