Happy New Year everybody! Do we all still have our brains? How about our digestive systems?
Matina, may I have some tea? And lay out all the bottles of aspirin and ibuprofen we have, just line em up on the butlers hatch.

*The Professor, looking rather smug for various reasons, walks in with a general grin on his face...*
Ah, good day everybody!
And a Happy NewYear to anyone who I haven't said it to yet.
Say, Loony, has Jools Holland appeared anywhere in their Top 500 chart yet?
Oh, I trust you all remember when I told you about our little mishap with peeling paint in the new house the other day. We had to paint the whole room all over again, remember? Well, trust my father, we are now putting up wallpaper! Indeed so, the whole room is being done again! Totally ludicrous, I tell you!
Anyway, Matina, a cup of hot tea if you please, thankyou.

Good day to you, Titania!
You know, my Computer, in fact the whole Big C NetWork, is immune to this sort of virus.
Hang on, no, that's not saying anything is it? Seeing as no one was affected by the original Y2K bug *at all*...

Professor, I think the bug that Loony warned about had something to do with hang-overs... if you don't stop drinking and don't go to bed, you'll probably be able to avoid it...

Don't worry Titania - I can get drunk without alcohol, high without drugs (the best approach...), and never get hangovers...
That is of course assuming my Watch behaves...

Jailhouse Rock as number 4? Yippieee - then I wasn't as far off as I thought last night...
The most amazing thing happened to me today - I was trying to describe a walk in the forest (again) and discovered that if I broke up the text into lines, it started to look like poetry... and it's the first time I've managed that in English! I was trying to spot deer, bringing my camera... here it is:
Everything very quite in the forest,
me all alone,
no one in sight,
only sounds my own breathing
and the snow crunching beneath my feet,
growing dark,
trying to follow a deer trace,
ending up knee-deep in snow,
turning back,
a sudden movement
in the corner of my eye,
turning head,
nothing there...
It was kind of spooky... (in the forest, that is)...

Very good Titania - I like it too.

Oh dear, I must depart. I shall however endeavour to return tomorrow evening.
Toodlepip!

Nice poem Titania.
The top 10 songs won't be played for another seven hours. The list I posted is just my guess. Hopefully a few others will post a list of their guesses.

[sea] happy new year's, all... even though it seems that for some of you, it's already tuesday. the whole time zone thing is incredibly insane, if you ask me. but the world needs a little insanity to keep things in line... *grin* i'm talking too much. this is me running on 6 hours of sleep!!!!!
PS. it has now been 18 days since NYU started sending letters of acceptance/rejection, and I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN MINE!!! (why can't the post office deliver mail on new year's day?! )

sea sXe--darling, don't stress. happened to me in a couple cases, and I got in everywhere I applied except Princeton. I'm sure you'll do just fine. Just think of the application process as a preparation for real college--only applications are like attending college through correspondence courses. Stress, yes! But it will be fun too, I promise.
Hi everyone! Sorry I took a holiday. I'll be stopping by periodically although I think not as much as I used to. Art links coming soon, Lil, I promise. Hope everyone is well for the new year. I am reading lots and thinking lots and on the net entirely too much again.
Apple Cinnamon Spice Tea, magically enhanced to have the nutritional value of Green Tea, Matina?

Happy New Year, everyone...mine involved crossing three state lines, more traffic violations than l can reasonably remember, dancing to klezmer music while wearing horns and dressed as a pixie, lots of blacklights, random recitations of "The Bacchi", far too many running gags involving Micronesia, Bob Dole and the Upjohn corporation (which does not, l learned, make Viagra; that's Pfizer, which makes it all the much less funny) and prank calls to the White House, speaking of which, l now have the number, should anyone want it...
Party's over now. Currently working on my application essays due tomorrow for Reed. l may post them for assistance if any parties are interested. Though they're pretty well hopeless

I bet the Republicans will change all the numbers.
sea, have some green tea. Very good beta blocker!
When I was thinking over the top 10, I reckoned that inspirational songs and songs that also appeal to 9 year olds would probably figure high. I agree with Bridge Over Troubled Water, but I also think Tie a Yellow Ribbon (Round the Old Oak Tree) will also be up there. The trick is to be aware of which songs are/were popular, not necessarily ones you'd like. Who sang that execrable "You Light Up My Life"?
