Hi everybody! Home at last. *throwing briefcase into a corner* It was a really weird day with really weird events. Don't ask. At least, not just now.
Amy, I had a feeling for a while that Styx was not happy, because his owner buddy was growing up and taking more interest in girls than in his old furry haunts. He's a gruff old thing, but when Mike would breeze through here without a word, I think he must have felt a loss of face. I know he has found interesting things to do in your company, so it's probably best. I believe you're right, we will see more of him once he has a place and a purpose. Your living arrangements sound excellent. When will the place be finished? We will all come over and celebrate!
But yeah, it's terribly quiet with Mike gone, Odra away somewhere, Irv held captive on a faraway coffee plantation and now Styx going. I have nobody living here but me. And the landlords downstairs...
So there will be a third skin that brings back Don't Panic and is hitch-hiker-like? This reminds me of Coke deciding to change their taste.

I'm only going by what Mr. MM has said in the above forums, Lil.
I'd quite happily move in here, and have done for short periods in the past, but atm, I cannot justify a lot of time here, and, of course, I have my shed no doubt I'll need to set up another 'rude cot' at the farm eventually, so i can travel between the two.
But think on this for a while, there are plenty of people who come in and out, the place is always busy, so you shouldn't find it too empty.
Ok, it's not the same as having people stay over, but if you would like, we could decide to stay over now and again.
I always like staying here. There is nothing quite like the aroma of Matina's baking, when you awaken in the morning, coupled with the fresh coffee
Your welcome Witty

Thank you Babel. I was fixin to shut rooms down like some scene out of Gormenghast...
I am updating BlackIceDefender on my laptop. Same download as I made to this machine yesterday, remember the 1.61MB in under a minute? It's been 5 minutes now, and the laptop appears to be one-third completed...

High speed access is a wonderful thing.
Who is your provider, Lil? I have Comcast@Home and use ZoneAlarm to keep the hackers at bay.

Cable, kinda reminds me of Ma Bell before the Baby Bells. One choice only.
Lil, have you dropped out of Lord Reflection's dinner party? Or have you forgotten? I just committed droidicide.

I just haven't caught up with backlog. I was on IM for a couple of hours with Mike this afternoon -- he's been home sick for the past 3 days, some throat thing -- while I was doing some w*rk-related stuff. And now I've got caught up in a second book about George Best. Looney, you really set off my curiosity!
There are two threads I've been neglecting, not including the cafe. Even with broadband, it's possible to get spread a little thin here. Which is why we don't often see new faces here -- our backlog is bigger than mt. Sandeverest!

Oh yeah, and before I had broadband we had those massive slowdowns, and then I moved my office just before Thanksgiving. And then I had company during that week. Come to think of it, there are a number of reasons why I've fallen behind!

One of the reasons that i haven't been to the cafe in an age.
Spread too thin!

Me, too. I've been bookmarking away here at the salon and just barely keeping up with the 2 action threads I'm involved in.
And I'm ready to turn in for tonight. Goodnight, all.

Kathy, after having had problems with the University ISP and having been stressed out over tests and a bit sick, finally flops down on the atelier couch, asks for a cup of that green tea if it isn't cold by now, and hugs everyone present. What a thread! How is everybody? Amy, where do you work IRL, and what are you getting your degree in, if you don't mind my asking? Haven't talked to anyone in a while. Like Chloe's painting--and Lil, I would be glad to "stay the night," tonight at least. I'll be on a lot tonight, between doing laundry and working on my ethnography. Happy World AIDS Day everyone!!!

I desperately need some advice--I'm in a tough situation involving love, loss, and an ethical dilemma, and I can't talk to someone IRL because it could start a rumor. If anyone is willing to chat off-forum, please e-mail me at [email protected], post your address to the forum, or IM museum freak.
Thanks,
KAthy

Hi Kathy
What's up? No guarantee I can help, but always willing to listen if you want. Can you give me 10 mins and I'll add your address to MSN IM.
I should come up as babel17 or Julian or Jools. Can't remember how it works.
