I find Trump honestly horrifying. My dad has recently had to move to a Long Term Care facility as well Lil. It's tough, he is having a hard enough time (his two cats had to go live with my sister after he became to ill to stay at his retirement home), but as someone with advancing Alzheimer's he's on a closed ward and some of the other residents have major behavioural issues, such as extremely abusive behaviour towards the staff and other residents.

Hoi Polloitics -- brilliant!
Hail to Marv the Grate! He sent me a laptop which I am using right now, until Frodo returns from Mordor.

Truly a knight in shining armour
We got OSH eating stew again last week. This time it was called beef bourgignon (I'm hazy on the spelling).
Bored of referendum talk already. The only upside is that I get an extra gig running a polling station. I'm overdue a warm election day so this could be the year.

I quite like Beef Bourguignon, but I make a bit of a cheating version. I don't have the time to individually peel a bunch of cocktail onions

Well, sorry for the brief absence, but I got a little bit of last-minute copy-editing work and then Frodo came home and appears to be stable. Marv's laptop has just gone to a university scholarship student who was making do with an aging macbook; he's all in exclamation marks about getting a WinX machine.
Now I need to think about Lojack software... and insurance...

I'm starting to think we're all rather busy just at the moment! I certainly am!
Although I seem to be going more retro/traditional all the time. I've recently acquired some wooden casks for the brewery, if you're interested you can read about why here: http://beernouveau.co.uk/why-wood/
One thing I know for certain, I don't have much of a clue what I'm doing! (Actually, I've as fair an idea as the next bloke, it's just none of us know).

I've never dealt with beer and ale brewing casks, but a very popular thing here has been "swish barrels". The aged barrels that whiskey, rum and other such good stuff has travelled in.
Enough uses, the distilleries can't use them further. But a home guy, a few gallons of warm water. Lay. Roll a quarter to half turn. Lay.
I once had a brew of Canadian whiskey that measured 35% by volume. Very, very mellow stuff

When I lived in Scotland, I sampled the whiskeys from the islands and they had quite a peaty taste.

I could never figure out why peat is regarded as a good flavour I am not a whisky fan, gimme a pint of bitter anytime.
Came across this...what a cool machine https://youtu.be/IvUU8joBb1Q

Remember how impressed we were with those CGI (Animusic) videos in the '90s? That we watched on VHS?

Which version is now more impressive?
And I wonder which version used more computing power? (I'm relatively sure much of that wooden machine was cut with CNC system.)

A little late to respond to this particular item, but I second (third? fourth?) the recommendation of The Lady in the Van. It'll be out on DVD next week on this side of the pond for any interested Salonbritstas.

Well don't worry about chiming in late on a topic around here. No topic ever dies...
I'm still installing software on Frodo. Hello, my name is Lil, and I'm a software hoarder.

Lil, I hope that the machine went to a good home. If you have any other trouble with frodo just shout.

I was just thinking about "Animusic".
The kind of thing Johann Sebastian Bach would have gotten a kick from.

I like pretty much everything about the "Animusic" video.
Though there's a small part of me that keeps whispering, "But the animation is too repetitive, they just reused the same movement over and over again!" etc. ...

I remember that Animusic video! You know what else it reminds me of? The Douglas's music puzzle from the Starship Titanic game, does anyone remember it? This video especially: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmqaLb8_Svk

Aha! found a video. Here is the bit of the game I mean, from about the one minute mark in the video. Hard puzzle as I remember: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3dwdn_lp-starship-titanic-05_videogames
