Alluded to in Baron Grim's post 171, apparently snaffled off by sock stealing dog, wooley monkey, H.G. Wells and Arthur C. Clarke's "Anticipator", the 'Phantom Yikester' or other foul denizen of the half-world.
I know it was in thread above, but the original post has disappeared.
At any rate, the actual animusic machine depicted is a programable analog device.

I have seen many variations and depictions of unicorns on the internet. Thus they MUST be real !!!

Actually, unicorns do really exist.
Its just that the Mediteranean variety, along with the Mediteranean elephant, were driven to extinction by the Roman gladitorial games and became a creature of legend, renamed 'rhinoceros' when rediscovered elsewhere in the world during the age of discovery.

Marco Polo frequently mentions unicorns in his book about his travels and everywhere he reports them, rhinoceroidae are still found.
As with the hippopotamus, the ancients correctly recognized its kinship to the horse, also an odd toed ungulate.
Below, a picture of the hornless South American variety, notable for its horselike mane and playfully mischievous ponylike dispositon.

I think we have a netiquette rule about links like that!

It is somewhat controversial.
There are people, though, who don't credit Marco Polo generally, a commercial and diplomatic traveler, simply because he reported unicorns, if back in age before the term 'rhinoceros' was coined, though long after the Mediteranean rhinos had gone extinct.
