Reguarding the price of gas / petrol, ours this morning is $1.03.9 Cdn per litre, $3.00 USD per US gallon, or about 63-pence-per litre in UK terms.

Baron Grim

I've been training myself to always round that 9 tenths of a penny up. My brain will still see $1.03 and 9/10s as $1.03 ish for a moment, but I quickly mentally "say" $1.04.

Huh. I'm surprised it's allowed to advertise as fractions of a penny, given you can't pay in fractions of a penny (right?).

The $1.03 is what first catches the eye, but the Baron is right . . . I call it a-buck-four . . .

Over a 25 to 40 litre filling, that 9/10ths of a pence add up though

Nothing much seems to be happening with Bens flat - the cats diabetes is still not well controlled, but I'm not going to be able to take time off work to take it for a CAT scan before I get back.

I'm staying on top of the housework though!

Congrats for the housework, Z, even if the other things aren't going quite so well to plan.

I'm currently waiting for a D&D game to start; Mr Vip is currently drawing the dungeon map so I have to wait out here until he's done. smiley - smiley

Well Ben is safely back from Australia, the diabetic cat still has rubbish blood sugars.

I've talked to him about healthy eating.. does he listen?

In other news I have arranged a very grown up 'coffee to discuss a potential consultant job' coming up. This is a bit scary, even though I could have become a consultant in 2014 if I hadn't done a PhD.

Oooh, A+ adulting there Z, congratulations! smiley - applause

I decided *not* to apply for a job today, because even though part time, term time only is basically my perfect working hours to suit me right now, the job looks like the sort of thing that would grind me down and I would hate.

I'm being a bit premature because I'm not 'ready' for a couple of years.. but I've also been a registrar for a longer-than-average time and it would be nice to have A Plan.

Having a Plan is good. Especially if it's one that you think can work.

Mine's getting this brewery to the point where other people do the work for me, and I get paid to sit at the end of the bar drinking all day smiley - winkeye

Although weirdly I've also just started branching out into beer vinegar. We're the only brewery in the UK making beer vinegar, deliberately, and there's already a lot of interest in it. So, it's now looking like it'll potentially be its own side business. Which I don't have time to run smiley - erm

Don't stress yourself, Pastey. Not even smiley - ale is worth that smiley - zen

(Did I just say that? Yes. Yes I did. Shows you how seriously you have to take stress!)

This week has been a bit different, I've been walking a lot more and - so far - my body hasn't broken, which is a pleasant experience.

I've also bought a new computer game based on the film Fantasia. You have to conduct the music by waving your arms around (the Kinect of the xbox maps your movements onto the screen). While it sounds kind of gimmicky it's actually very enjoyable.

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

*a tiny yawn is heard from under a sofa*

*a tiny mouse scurries onto the fireside rug*

Sorry I err must have dozed off for a while, umm may I request a backlog exemption pass? I also believe that the blue fluffy trousers are to wing their way to me for the duration of the next conversation.

Terribly sorry to have vanished for so long. I had a baby and then I had postnatal depression, through the worst of it now but still on medication. Also my sight continues to deteriorate which is terrifying but nothing to be done.

A positive thing for today: I am in my new house, and have successfully stripped off the wallpaper in the small bedroom.

I am very tired, but I am attempting not to let that stop me for too much longer.

Onwards!

I've just been in a slump for ... well, a while now, really. But I am excited that a game series I'm into is getting two new installments. Also, one of the spinoff comics thereof has been in one continuous cliffhanger for at least the past three (monthly) installments ...
