Morning all - still droughting outside here, so probably a wet Bank Holiday weekend. I'm not as busy as Bea now the walking weekend's been cancelled.
I might take the kids to the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke at some point this weekend - anyone been there?
If it stops droughting down we might go to Stansted House, which has one of only 2 miniature railways in Hampshire I've not sat on yet.

It's AC weather again in my part of the world. At least that means the soil temperature is finally warm enough to plant beans and other warm weather veggie seeds.

Santra - I've not heard anything about violence here on Tuesday, but we've certainly had violence at protests. Ian Tomlinson, Blair Peach and the Battle of Orgreave spring to mind as showing the Rozzers in a poor light, and then there were last summer's riots, and a violent protest the previous autumn.

Still, things have been worse. In 1381 an angry mob beheaded the Archbishop of Canterbury.

I liked no. 6 and 7 of the bigpictures; a peaceful activity. Too often these days, demonstrations get derailed by troublemakers, hooligans and looters who first pretend to be part of it and then just go wild, without ever having an intention to support the main issues.

Is it really dumb to select a dentist based on the fact that she's very very attractive and went to the same university as me?

I registered with a new dentist who was taking NHS patients, so not totally free treatment, but much cheaper than private. I was ushered in and a the room had two young attractive ladies wearing tunics, I genuinely couldn't work out which was the dentist until one of them started checking my teeth. I wanted to ask whether she was a dentist, but I've had years of being told I'm too young to be a doctor, so I bite my tough (obviously not during the check up).

We chatted afterwards, and it turned out that she graduated in July, from Birmingham as well, and she's in her first year at a training practice. It turns out that I need a filling, i've needed one for a few years but I've put it off because the private dentist I saw said I needed £400+ worth of work doing, and I didn't have the money. I am a bit nervous about letting someone so new do a filling and perhaps a root canal as well, but I only learnt because people let me do procedures on them. Also it's £13-£100 instead of several hundred, so that means I can take Mrs Zen away for the bank holiday weekend. Which will be worth the pain. It's a tooth. How wrong can it go?

Also she's hot.

Z - It strikes me as fairly dumb to admit you did that on a forum frequented by your wife.

Hello, good evening! Had a very nice chat with Phil in the pub the other evening. Well, less of a chat, more of an Academic Support Staff Group Therapy session, but! It was lovely!

Bagpuss - I should think Z and Ben have discussed the hot dentist for hours and hours already. I know I discuss all my crushes with Scrumph, and it's very amusing when he agrees with me. Not that we ever DO anything, we're revoltingly vanilla and monogamous, but it keeps the dinner conversation interesting and lively.

Yes! Ben spends a lot of time and energy and money searching for a very experienced and expensive dentist. She's faintly amused that I'm choosing one based on hotness.

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

Heh, I've let dental students loose on my teeth (what it was free treatment and I was in pain) the 'temporary filling' i got last august is still in place and doing pretty well, I know I know at some point it's going to need to come out, and i'm going to need a Root canal, but well that would require actually finding and registering with an NHS dentist.

Z, that's as good a reason as I have ever heard for choosing any kind of a professional.

Night all.

Morning all – Bank Holiday weekend approaching, and I've already planned on spending some time tomorrow morning photographing postboxes. I had a dream last night in which I was given a Type K postbox (with hook) as a birthday present, which because there's no room in the flat, we put in the garden, but I was worried that a wasp might build a nest in my postbox.

Tammy Wyncyette?

Just back off the plane from Lahndan. Passing out parade v v good, but very long and cold. Can't imagine what it must have been like for them as had to stand to attention all that time! Marvellous to get caught up with darling son, and see how he's matured.

And while I was away - got a phone call to say my bracelet has been found!!!
