I bet it's the light natural scent of gasoline and 2-stroke oil wafting on the early morning breeze that keeps him coming back for more...

Candi - now 42!

It's an incredibly clear, still day here. We're on a hill and the views are always lovely. But today it's stunningly beautiful. The sun is so warm too. Can't believe it's November. smiley - biggrin

I haven't been out today, but it's too cold inside. I've had to put the heating on. Am sitting with my back against the heater trying to get warm.

Pastey

Right peeps, I'm planning on coming to the States next year. My intention is to fly to somewhere on the East Coast for the weekend, then fly to California to hire a camper for a couple weeks, then fly back somewhere else on the East Coast for a weekend before flying home.

I'm planning to try and do this around May next year, all depending on cash etc.

So, ideas? Where should I go, what should I see, who should I see?

Just dropping by with this F19585?thread=8284413 It's a link to an ask thread, seeing if anyone is interested in a Manchester h2g2 meet in January.

East'ish has PsychoCandy in Chicago area. Of course, the far west has Amy of the paper-sort and Happy Nerd. You haven't mentioned any chances of Canada (leaving me or my tribe out) nor the centre of the universe aka Little Doodah, so I expect you will also miss Hypatia.

Ah, here we go, see subtitle USA A660313 - not sure how active the groups are today, but considering the massive amount of returnees, it's hard to tell.

And might I take this opportunity to tell Candi that she was a very memorable part of my first ever hootoo meet.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

California is not a small place Pastey. What part are you going to?

As for the regional groups, I know I haven't seen any activity in the Southwest US group in quite some time, more than three years now that I look at the group.

And, while I realise this is no small task, might I express a wish for smiley tags to work in thread subjects, either as a word in brackets or an actual smiley?

*realises this is asking for a lot from smiley - hero Pastey but coming from a person who would still like to believe in smiley - santa...*

...and yes, both the umlauts/other thingies and the thread titles are not something to be revived, but much longed for, so to speak. What - I can dream can't I?

Oh, right...

Pastey

The part of California I was wanting to go to is Boonville for the beer fest, and then no idea yet. I'm thinking of getting over to that side of the country for the monday/tuesday before the fest, having the weekend of the fest, and then leaving the state possibly the thurs/friday after it, whenever it is.

I really have no idea where in the States I should go.

Only provisos are, I'm coming with the wife, and she's vegetarian. And I can't stand Disney or (large crowds of) Tourists.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence

Nick, Chicago is in the mid-West!!! The northern part, but not east coast unless a whole chunk of America fell off the eastern side during the Oklahoma quake and left Lake Superior as the new coastline.

I will be terribly unhappy if Mr. and Mrs. Pastey can't make it to New Mexico. It's an occasion that might tempt Arizonans and Utahians to gather here.
