Morning all.
Kelli, I'm so sorry life throws all these nasties at you right now.
Hope you'll all be better soon.
It's funny, I've been to England so often now, but the only time had fish'n'chips was decades ago, and I've never had a curry. However, I'm afraid even the mildest one would be too hot for me anyway, so it's probably not a real loss.

I reckon I had the first real reaction to the whole situation with my Mother's deterioating condition yesterday. It has been a rough week and a half's time - twice she's been brought home by a kind police patrol due to being out and about at evening time and not quite being sure of where she lived. And twice she's done the same and tripped over something and ended in the emergency ward. Nothing but superficial bruises, but still...
This on top of 3 supply contracts in negotiation (and I vehemently do not like contract work, vastly prefer "just do it" kind of work), one of which culminated in a big CEO-level meeting that I chaired on Thursday. Which, incidentally was the second of the emergency ward days - which I learned about 5 minutes before the suppliers arrived.
The good thing is that she has been approved for a "protected" place at a seniors' home that is especially for elderly people with dementia etc. We're just waiting for the place to be refreshed after the previous tenant.
Moving my mother, however, looms up before me like one of Z's Munroes. She surely does not want to go to "a home" - but here, the end really does justify the means. She is way beyond being capable of living on her own in an apartment, even with assistance 3-4 times per day.
So yesterday, we were at friends up the road. At 7.30 or so, remains of the main course still on the table, I just had to call it a night and walk home to sleep. I can't recall having been so tired for years and years.
Sleeping helped, but I do reckon the veneer is rather thin...

My Granny went into a home for her last year (she was 90+). It was quite traumatic, but not more traumatic than other options would have been and quite quite necessary for her to stop living on her own, even with lots of help. Santra. And

Well then, I'll cut the cake and help myself. Anyone else for ?
I had a great programming experience last night. I've been working in a relatively new language for me, javascript, and in the process of transplanting a stable chunk of code into an HTML page, I broke it, and couldn't for the life of me see why it wouldn't work.
So I went back to a copy of the original code and fixed it until it broke. Which was good, because now all I have to do is retrieve the original code again and track each change (ok, I was tinkering haphazardly last night ) until I find out exactly what killed it. A teaching moment, as they say. Progress, as I see it.
Sympathy to you, Santra. Been there.

Not an easy time at all Santra. Hope you get some useful sleep.
would be nice but I've put a couple of pounds on by the looks of things.
Successful Leuchars airshow. It did pour with rain mid afternoon giving everyone a good drenching. Luckily I was inside at the time. Home safe and sound tonight.
Taff, presumably you're wondering if Lossiemouth survived? It did. Leuchars will become an Army base though. It's Typhoon fighters head up here to Lossiemouth, leaving it as the last operational RAF base in Scotland.

Santra, I know how scary and upsetting it is to be called by somebody telling you they've picked up your mum.
My mother in law has now moved to where there's always somebody close if she needs help. It does take a lot of angst off us.
