You have a problem with Thursdays? Actually, this conversation has been going on since mid-December of last year.

it has been a long one, it seems. Maybe we've lost steam with the news of the impending change.
I was poking about over at TED.com, and came across a poem from a TED talk in 2006 by Rives, the poet who MCed the TEDxCaltech event I went to in January. It's about the internet, and I thought it appropriate for the Salon, as it ties in and with us so well...

I haven't seen the video of his poem from the TED in JHanuary; will post a link when I do, it's pretty funny and thoughtful.

Sunny morning, with rain predicted in the afternoon - that ought to have some effect on the snow!
IIEM, a vanilla latte please. Matina, any mbougatses available?

I think that we've got a few months at least, but I really don't think that the 'axe will fall', I think that it'll be a case of the site moving to new owners.

*Looks for the v/_\3 for tea but keeps finding the \___/==== (frying pan) for pancakes instead*
Anyone else have pancakes yesterday?

We had pancakes: they came out very well compared to last year's failures.
Been for a job interview for a CS role this afternoon.
Monty is now mewing as he thinks it's tea time.

We had snow this morning too, which I am annoyed about because it'll damage the bedding plants I put in a few weekends ago. Thankfully the spring onions haven't germinated yet, so that didn't do any harm.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Mar 9, 2011
The first year we had the allotment I was super keen - planted loads of seeds into the ground during March and then had a snowfall in early april which pretty much killed everything.
These days I don't put anything in the ground until we're into april although i do get things started in the greenhouse sooner.

Hmm I am just back from a visit to see some friends and their kittens. cute!
no snow here in Dundee, although if it's coming from Edinburgh and from Aberdeen I'm sure we will get some later. it's already cold enough.
I seem to have acquired a giant cupcake mould, along with cake ingredients. Headed kitchenwards shortly to see what I can make. Hopefully it will work, although I'm not holding my breath! Might take photos if it does.

I've never heard of them before, but they look good.
Now that Shrove Tuesday is over, is anyone giving up anything for Lent?

I wanted to get started early so that we could do some successional planting. Oh well, fingers crossed etc.
I'm not going to get a greenhouse until I'm sure I can do this gardening business, I don't have a lot of spare time, so thankfully I can just go outside.

MMmm, pancakes. Just some freshly squeezed lemon and some sugar sprinkled on top. Simple but very tasty.
Hendrix the dog is getting very doddery in his old age and has to have his food and drink raised up on a platform, as he struggles to bend down to the floor. But he still seems cheerfull enough even if he is stiff and arthritic.

Sorry to hear that, Todd! Are pancakes something which is to be sacrificed for the 40 days, or just to ease the upcoming sacrifice?
IF I was inclined to give something up for Lent (while being a functional Atheist, I've been known to sacrifice for Lent as it's supposed to be good for my non-acknowledged soul), I can't quite make up my mind this year. Seems I've had to give up so much involuntarily, that I think I should get a Get Out of Lent Free pass.
