The first person to hit 1000 was, appropriately enough, Menza. I came in at 999, Peregrin made the 1001st post.

Hallo everyone. Matina get me some OJ and a slice of your mbougatses please.
I must modestly point out that the Forum & Firkin should be expected to break a thousand regularly because it has a large clientele and has been in existence much longer than the Atelier. Not to mention the fact that the first thread to break a thousand was in existence before the change of architecture, whilst 21X was ... 10 days old? I'll have to go back and check. Anyhow, 21X ran to 1013, which compensates for QMike's competitive enthusiasm.
Billy is coming along nicely, at last, with a face I have been able to keep liking for several days now. Later on I'll refurbish the Billy page -- I deleted the images and forgot to delete the article, so I'll use it as a frame. I won't do this till I've solved two problems of flesh modelling, though.
If I can't go online, I'll have Dreamweevil on my laptop and I can at least, at least, build asterlil.com while I'm sitting in the train watching Kansas go by.

*flutter of wings*
G'afternoon,
Loony, is there anything of your very interesting wine left? I'm a great wine fan, although I'm not an expert; I just try and say this is very good, this I don't like at all. I prefere dry red wine, though.

Matina, an Irish Coffee in the meantime, please.

Hi all!
Matina, a Y please!
Sorry, I'm a bit busy right now trying to write an article about 'Kalevala', don't mind me, I'll just sit down in that sofa over there and do some research...

Does anyone here know what - hang on - 'highly formalised trochaic tetrameters' are?
*groaning, wondering why she had to choose a subject like Kalevala for an article*

trochaic means 'tripping'

A stiff drink please Matina, I've just had the unpleasant experience of having to log into H2G2. I was here an hour or so ago and then when I came back it was all alabaster and wouldn't let me post till I'd logged in

*struggling with dictionary - what the ? is apotheosis*
Sorry to hear about your trouble, Phil...
By the way, do you remember what number 'tetra' stands for?

Wow, it says here Kalevala is what inspired Tolkien to create the language of 'quenya' while he was studying at Oxford...
...and that Kalevala has been featured in Donald Duck! Huh! And rather well too, giving you a good picture of what it is - I wish I could read that!
*head starts sinking lower and lower over books, and soon a vague 'zzz' can be heard*

Apothesis; 1, elevate to divine status, 2, the perfect example.
taken from websters online dictionary.
Tetra is four. Tetrameter is a line of verse consisting either of four dipodies (as in classical iambic, trochaic, and anapestic verse) or four metrical feet (as in modern English verse). So it's something to do with the numbers of sylables in a line of verse.
(again all hail to the might http://www.m-w.com - shame the OED isn't free online )

tetra means 'four' so does it mean:
ta-da ta-da ta-da ta-da,
ta-da ta-da ta-da ta-de,
ta-da ta-da ta-da ta-da,
ta-da ta-da ta-da ta-de!

That I will have to leave to someone else to answer as I don't know and won't know till I've looked further to find out.
