After walking 72 miles, I've decided that luxury is sitting down with dry feet.

Best wishes for your mother, T.
And, lots of with your interviews, Ben.
I like the idea of that act of remembrance, Santra. It is simple, but very powerful.

to your Mum Teutcher.
I've just been sorting the latest appointment in the 'replacing a car window' saga. The fitter's van broke down last Saturday, so it will have to wait for next Saturday, but Must Be Done Before 11:30 As We Have The Grandmother-in-Law's 90th Birthday Lunch. I've decided to make a card rather than find a suitably numbered one.
May the Fourth be with you all.
I'm enjoying the sun outside the window too. Monty was adamant that he was going to enjoy it outside whilst Maisie is happy to curl up on a duvet and sleep.

Now I remember everything I was going to say.
with the interviews Ben. I think we need to catch another Job .
Santra: that's a lovely way to remember the date. I believe that the Dutch celebrate their liberation day on May 5 by switching all the lights on at 8 in the evening as that was curfew time.

Wait...you mean May 5th is something other than Two For One Pitchers of Margaritas And Nachos Supreme With Extra Guacamole Day, aka Cinco de Mayo here in the States?
Best wishes to you and your Ma, Teuchter.

That's a lovely tradition, Santra. I'll light a candle here in Little DooDah this evening.
to add to T's Ma's bouquet.
Cinco de Mayo is great fun, with or without the margaritas. The library event will be without the margaritas.

Wow - sounds like a great excercise though. I've now got accomodation for the Keswick to Barrow walk next weekend, so will attempt 40 miles in 1 day. We do have 'Sherpas' to pick us up if we fall over. Though I find having no options other than to get home makes it far more likely for me to actually finish the walk. If I can ring up Ben and ask for a lift I will do.
I'm slowly recovering from my man-flu. The Office has concluded that because we're not seeing patients who are properly ill we are too busy feeling laugid and sorry for ourselves this cold that's going around.
We have a two new members today, one who has arrived from Itay, and one who is a newly qualifed consultant (who drinks coffee nearly as much as I do). He's definately one of us, and not one of The Proffessors.
I've realised that I'm hopeless at doing nothing. I need highly structured time or I distract myself far too easily. I've found plenty of things to do in Edinbugh - come the next term I'm going to be enrolling on drawing classes and basic Chinese.

Oh, if you can track down a life drawing class, I'd be up for that. I like life drawing.

My brain scans were clear of abnormalities, but I didn't leap to any conclusions about being normal. Which reminds me, Z, I sent an email to you via yahoo, but now I can't remember whether you're still using it (the yahoo addy).
New thread on Thursday, day after tomorrow. And the party will commence on 12 May, the day after Freddie leaves the building. I'll repeat the announcement in the intro to 100X.

And I'll gladly join Ben in taking that life drawing class. There's nothing so interesting as the human body, to draw.

I can only draw a stick man and even he looks odd
Well done on the walk, <BB<.
Forgot to add yesterday, with the interviews, Ben.
I've put my resignation on hold for the time being, need to sort some stuff out first and besides, one of my colleagues made me feel happier on Sunday (and even happier on Monday when he took my Friday hell-shift)
Tifa has just thrown the bowl of cat biscuits all over the floor! Well, at least she'll hoover them up
Ooh, I've just remembered something I *can* draw - the curtains. (Yes, I know)

I don't like the sound of a double-length MRI. I've had normal length ones and really wanted to stretch my legs by the end.

Just popping in to curse Ben for that styleshake link. Between that and trying to design the perfect Pandora bracelet to budget, a group present for a friend's 40th, I have wasted the whole day.

The scanner was actually quite easy, I just sort of slipped in and out of snoozing whilst the rest of the research team tried out the best way of doing the right sort of scan.
Obviously when you are in a confined space, and can't move you can think of pretty much everything you want, and I was occupying myself with thinking of well, er, . Then I realised it was a research MR scanner, so to find out what I was thinking about then had to just press a different button.
Actually they could just find out which part of the brain I was using, not exactly what I was I was using it for.

My USAian counterparts thought it was pretty funny, too - except that they also had that thought first when I mentioned the date...
I'm a little thrilled by seemingly having caused candles to appear in windows here and there and all over
Ben, I'd have loved a mini-meet - but don't feel too bad about it 'cause my schedule would have been limiting anyway. We have bizniz meetings all day tomorrow, a dinner somewhere nice in the evening and my flight back, ashes permitting*, is on Thursday at 10. So there'd be absolutely no time
*Another one I heard was the one about the English being absolutely thrilled the first time they got the ashes back...
