You would think that if a region's phones went down, we would get no calls from that region. Alas, Ann Taylor associates have cell phones.

Hyp, if you're getting enough sleep, and you still feel tired, that's a visit to the doctor, okay?
I worry.

Sometimes if you're tired when you wake up, it means sleep apnea or similar...
> I'm told (by a nurse) that thyroid meds can give you vivid dreams.
I've always had vivid dreams, and especially right before that time of the month. (Sorry, guys, may be TMI.) There was one whole year of no dreams at all, which was a little weird. (Probably due to the cognitive impairment...) They finally started visiting again, but they were boring, gray sorts of dreams. Now the dreams are back - yay! I missed them.

Here's a story about a gene mutation: some people only need 5-6 hrs vs 8.5 hrs. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=111845909
Mr.V had sleep apnea with stops of 20 seconds, which I thought was a long time to be not breating, but it turns out that this is mild. I found out one of my friends had stops of up to 3 min!!!! (now sleeps with an air flow mask.)

I'd gladly donate some of my dreams to the dream-deprived. For instance, last night I dreamt I had two cats (one was Lucy, who was actually a cat of mine for 19 years; the other was a stranger). They were hanging outside my house. I jumped in my big red Ford pickup (I don't really drive a truck IRL, I drive a VW Bug), put it in reverse, and promptly ran over the new cat with a big, wet *thunk*.
Ugh.
I'm interpreting it as I need to keep my old, loyal friends and completely and utterly get rid of a newer friend, one who's proved to be a complete leech over the last year.

Sounds like a good interpretation to me, FG!
Interesting article. I'd never have thought of it as gene-related.
Teuchter's good joke about a hotel being an out-of-body experience actually had me thinking. Maybe wishful thinking, but perhaps it had to do with my perception of the paresthesia as a temporary state!
*waves to Ag and goes to the IIEM to plead for anticoffee*

Sleep apnea is terrifying for the one who hasn't got it, V. You have my sympathies.

"Professor Martin Chalfie, who won the Nobel prize for chemistry in 2008, was this year's prize in the "win a date with a Nobel laureate" contest."
I like the prizes for Economics, Physics and Chemistry, myself.

I think economy and physics are my favourites. And I had - quite as intended - a laugh and a wee think about the choice of giant panda as a resource for the biology research.

Good to see you back, Ag. We look forward to hearing about the continong.
I rarely have dreams these days and used to worry about that until I read somewhere that we all dream, it's just that some of us don't remember having dreamed.
Sleep apnoea and snoring are supposed to be closely related.
They certainly are chez T. When Mr T treated me to yet another night of stentorian snorning, I used to pinch his nostrils until he shut up
I'm pleased to say that, apart from a recent bout caused by having a heavy cold, the snoring has been vastly improved by the loss of a bit of weight.
