*After a curry dinner the previous evening, and another earthquake in the intervening hours, there is the usual oxymoronic serene bustle on the upper floor of Crater Labs Inc., where Lil's Atelier and Salon are situated.*
*As a vigorous looking venus flytrap yawns and stretches her leaves, and the sloth crawls out onto the veranda to look at the scenery, a bot-version of a buxom French maid can be seen tidying the area*
*Lil emerges from private apartments and looks around to see who's here*

Looks like it was quite a do last night. I did manage to make it in time to see the flamenco though

Which I missed while I was doing meals for me and Gretta. But it was a most interesting evening!
So when was the latest earthquake and how long did it last? How you been to Jim Lynn's "space"? Thanks to the safari, I now know he's U6.

There is no comment about last night/this morning (it was down when I tried first thing from work) on Jims page - nor did I expect there to be. I've put my comments in the bug report feedback forum and haven't heard anything there
If you get some comment on the subs list let me know and I can then add accusations of elitism as well

Only a very terse comment from Mark along the lines of ""We know it's down, we're working on it." Maybe if they knew why they would tell us. Or maybe if they said what they really thought about it they'd have even more trouble getting support from a certain hardware manufacturer.
Off to RL. Are you away for the weekend? Come to think of it, we only see you on weekdays, don't we.

Hi there Titania, how's Stockholm today? Me and Lil are discussing last nights outage and H2G2.COM's reaction to letting people know about it.
Lil, All I'm asking for is just a simple "We're sorry that there was an outage between * and *, this was because of whatever". I would be happy with taht. I know hardware and software isn't perfect (if it was I wouldn't have much of a job ). Do they not respect their customers at all. We're the ones who are doing a lot of the grunt work to populate the guide, they're supposed to be providing the framework for this. I can envisage the guide becoming a good internet brand if they work it right and don't try and expand too quick. The thing is though that brand is partly being built by the community. Look at something like slashdot for example, the site is only part of what Andover bought, they had to buy into the whole slashdot community as well. The community there are the ones who read the news, submit stories and the flame each other to death in the comments section.
I guess I'm just annoyed that I've asked before and got told someone will look into it and nothing hapens. Give me some respect and I'll respect you back simple?
Oh and this has made up my mind I'm not going to try for one of the GURU posts even though I think I'd quite like to do it.
Sorry for the rant, but it's just that I feel strongly about this.

I agree Phil, there's few things more aggravating than situtations where things aren't working properly, and those responsible for keeping it working don't inform their customers/users.
A "latest news" frame on front page of h2g2 with current status, explanations and maybe even apologies concerning functionality of h2g2-system would be really nice.
People do tend to have more patience if they know what's going on and why...

Thanks Titania. I know I go on about it, but I want this site to be the best site ever. I guess some people think I'm just complaining for the sake of it . I know it's hard to keep a complex system running (you should see the authentication system for our users and how often that falls over ).
I'm not going to be here over the weekend. I'm going to do my open water dives for the scuba course then. I'll probably be back online trying to catch up on sunday evening.
I guess I have been trying to fit a lot in recently so I've not had much chance to get online from home. I suppose this means I've got real life

Wow, just discovered a great way of checking if people have been talking about someone.
Great for keeping up with gossip...
And I discovered I'm not the only Titania at h2g2 (found the name popping up in forum conversations where I've never been).

Go to Search page and Search Forums, enter name of person and - voila! - every forum that person ever said something in or was talked about, appears...
I tried it on myself. I just wish there was a way to filter out own conversations, leaving only other peoples comments of me.
But I saw forums where I DEFINITELY haven't visited...

Have you tried to see what happens when you search for users named titania. Then you should get a list of users with titania as part of their name and you can see what they're up to from their home spaces.

Yes, but the fun part of searching forums was that I could also see postings where Titania was mentioned, by people whose name didn't include Titania...

I did that once, long ago. It was shortly after I had started the FFFF, and I wanted to see what popular opinion on the group was. So I did a search on 'FFFF' and combed through the forums that came up. I was glad to see that it was mostly my people talking about it, and they had nice things to say. I even came across several places where a member had discovered another freethinker, and invited them to join. I think 95% of the members learned of the Foundation through word of mouth (or keyboard, I suppose).

*Catches up with the backlog, and exhaustedly sits in a comfy chair*
I should do that with my name. I probably wouldn't find an "Afgncaap5", but there's a chance that I might find another "Afgncaap".
