MR - I can only assume that the cats are acting up because you are behaving differently (unavoidable, because you've been waiting to have/ have had surgery). Little kids do this too - a parent or sibling is ill, other family members are paying them more attention, the ill person doesn't act or play like they used to... small, especially pre-verbal kids don't really understand what's going on or that other people even really exist in their own right, and naturally get upset and frightened and behave like any uset kid - have tantrums, kick things etc. Cats being much like toddlers in some ways, I assume they are cross because their human is not picking them up as much or being the one to feed them and they are having tantrums... They'll perk up as you get better.
S is cleaning the kitchen. I should be delighted. But instead I'm feeling vaguely resentful about feeling vaguely guilty that I'm not cleaning the kitchen - I've been watchign the Royal Wedding and the Grand National instead. S I'm sure merely wants the kitchen to be cleaner and isn't thinking about me at all, and all this niggling is entirely self-inflicted, but nevertheless I think I'm going to either steal the hoover's plug or lock myself in the spare bathroom with a good book.

I watched the wedding too. Actually that's a lie, it was on in the background while I did my filing and expences.
The place is a tip, but I am off to Brum for some razzle-dazzle. It'll all be here and ready to tidy tomorrow.
I wish I felt better about the paperwork though.

I've managed to clean my kitchen, but I'm not allowed to take out the trash until later this week...maybe I can get the BF to act like one and do something nice for me by taking it out...

*David emerges from the backlog, looking rather dazed*
The names debate is fascinating. As you can tell, I use David. I am not Dave. I never have been Dave, and I never will be Dave. I can tell that someone doesn't know me all that well if they call me Dave, because it simply doesn't suit me. Always funny when I do a show, as everyone starts off using the sort version, but gradually most of the company come to call me David... Surnames - take it, keep it, change it for somethink funkier, as long as you like it.
Someone (sorry, can't remember who) mentioned 'Swing' by Rupert Holmes. I definitely plan to get hold of that. Sadly, my library is an academic one, so probably won't get it, but I shall have to see if the public library plans to but it. It's a little out of my book price range at the mo!
Pigs. I drew a pig before the weekend:

I rather like him, he's a very happy pig.
I have been cat-sitting for my friends who live across the street over the last week. Two brothers, just under a year old, and so fickle. Mostly interested in food, so they ignore me until I really have to go, and then demand a fuss. One of them (Clint) never wants to come inside, and the other one (Billy) tends to refuse to go outside. I love them dearly, but it's rather frustrating. My friends will be back soon, along with the guide dog, who is my biggest fan in the world. It was most amusing seeing the guide dog (Hugo) react to Billy and Clint when they first arrived. He was terrified of the sweet little for ages, always running away when they entered the room.

Clarification - the library might 'buy' the book, as I doubt they'd ever plan to 'but' it...
And I'd offer to take MR's trash out for her, but I think I'm a tad far away to be able to. I think your BF definitely should do this relativel y simple, yet essential task for you, MR.

I now have a clean flat!
I do actually post here every time I clean my flat, so you can tell how unusal this is.
I love the smell of Cilit Bang in the morning..
Doesn't everyone buy their cleaning materials purely based on the fact that the name sounds a bit roooode?
I've also been to town and had a coffee binge with a friend coupled with a gossip about our personal lives. And I walked through a book shop without buying anything!
I'm making a curry for my guests tonight, it will be a bit of an experiment, because I normally use curry powder in a curry and this time I'm using chilli. I'm not sure at what point to add the chili, at the same time as the onions? which is when I add the dried spices, or later with the other veg?

Took the kids to buy new sheets for their new beds today. I figured, they have to sleep on them they can pick them out. Athena got herself a nice flower pattern as befits her personality. Chris got a basic neutral pattern in green and a yellowish pattern.

Hurrah for Z's clean flat! It must be sunspot activity or something. Even I have got off my lazy bottom and cleaned the bathroom, and S is as I type up a step-ladder hoovering off the main beam across our flat and using it as a shelf for all those ornaments that were previously using valuable book-shelf space. I have decided that I am cooking supper and therefore am entitled to sit back down again. Especially as he seems to be enjoying himself.

I discovered yesterday that the fittings around the lightbulbs in the hallway have been fixed to the ceiling in such a way that you cannot change the bulbs.

*full of ideas today*
Especially now we're doing 2000ish long conversations perhaps it may be a good idea for the scribe to do a section summary every 500ish - it would help them in the end and give those that go off an anchor point to catch up.
Ag was wonderful to do the bathroom - I feel a little guilty for sort of blackmailing her into it... but not that guilty : )
Caerwynn - you could always sideways-grade to a Mac! Get one of them Mac mini things and you can experience a whole new workd of computing joy quite easily as you can keep your screen etc. : )

Well, I've discovered that the book reviews for my advisor's reading list do not fit into a 2 inch binder.
No, I'm not kidding.
How, praytell, am I supposed to remember the basic arguments for some 200 books for my exams?!
Okay, I'm feeling a bit naseous again...I think I have to lie down...

After all our chat about art earlier on, I've just been to a cabaret club and had a stand-up comedienne tell me that I look like 'the son David Hockney never had'. I think I'll take that as a compliment.

I'm too exhausted to breathe. The library is clean, the exhibits are finished, the dedication plaques are attached formly to their respective rooms, and the landscaping is finished. Tomorrow morning I'll set up the reception tables and do a couple of odds and ends. Then the dedication starts at 2:00.
I agreed to take a kid on a work program from the state. I think he's been stealing from us. $5 here and there. Nothing big. And today one of my volunteers had $80 taken from her purse. It has to be the kid, but how do I prove it? I'm very upset over it. I don't need another hassle right now.

I'd say to keep a close eye on him from now on and to alert the cops to the theft of the $80. While it is possible he is the theif, you really do need proof before hanging it on him.
Key: Complain about this post
