I'm only just in from work and taxi-ing my son and his chum to a party.
Wondered why I felt tetchy - then realised I've eaten very little today and my blood-sugar must be in my boots!
Now shovelling-in pasta and salad as fast as I can.
Sending you Good Vibes for the interview, Zomnker. It's always heartening to be offered a position - even if it's not the one you really want.
Still haven't managed to hand in my resignation - PM still off with flu, and probably will be absent for a while longer. I'm going to put my envelope in her in-tray - with the date marked on it.

*Plops several large shopping bags down by the hall table, plops herself onto one of the sofas.*
Oi! 5 hours of holiday shopping today and I'm still not done. I'd love an eggnog, but it will have to wait until after the next trip.
*Rolls her head around to release the tension in her neck, stands up and heads for the door.*
I shall return!

Ooooops - sorry about the size of the e-mail, Lil. Told you I was new to this stuff. It did seem to take rather a long time to attach itself to the note .
I'll re-scan, put it on a diet - see if it's smaller and try again.

dElaphant (and Zeppo his dog (and Gummo, Zeppos dog)) - Left my apostrophes at the BBC Posted Dec 14, 2004
Enough of this Mercury thing, it had better get moving in the right direction pronto. We nearly got hit by an idiot turning her car into a crosswalk, Zeppo got bumped but he's OK. I've had my face tongue-washed 3 times in the last 20 minutes, if you can call that washing. I usually watch my language but you should have heard me cuss at that woman.
'scuse me while I skip the backlog in favor of another

z, there's this lovely free little program called Trillian (love that) that puts AIM, Yahoo messenger, MSN messenger, IRC and IRQ into one neat little package. That's what I use, and I love it. It's from Cerulean Studios.
Teutcher, do you think that perhaps the PM is out "sick" because she knows that once she returns she will be flooded with resignations? Or are you the only one?

FG - the plan was/is to meet up with her in town and just generally make the most of quality one-to-one time together. The way things work now I very rarely ever see friends on an individual basis, really once in a blue moon. By catching her outside of the pack, of course, you get to enjoy each other's company on our individual merits alone I also prepped a nice little xmas card for her, and hopefully will grab a bite to eat with her. Of course, when you're 'just friends' candlelit dinners are out of the question
but I can do better than MacDonalds
Unfortunately, one of our mutual best friends has given me a thorough reassuring that we can never be more than just good friends on account of her feelings. Which has rendered me somewhat gutted and killed my enthusiasm somewhat. Looks like I need to sleep on it and see where I stand in the morning. Regardless, I'm still going in for the kill.
Lil - I love telling old band stories, I must admit perhaps it's for the best it doesn't take off after all
Nah, bollocks to that I think!

TIM, dearest, mutual friends often know less than you do. The BF and I would never have been together if it wasn't for the fact we both completely ignored his housemate, my friend, who had decided a long time ago that we were wrong for each other and kept trying to set up BF and another mutual friend of all of ours. Which panned out very, very badly....

The best way to "move in for the kill" is to spend time together so that, hopefully, her feelings for you will change. Catching the other person "outside of the pack" is always tricky. You don't want to make it look like you're trying to change their habits, yet you would like to prod them into doing something other than their usual rut so you can get to know them better...wait. Dammit, I think I'm describing my love life here.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.") Posted Dec 15, 2004
My son, C, is on a contract at school in an effort to improve how he's doing in class. The contract covers doing his work, where he gets smilies or frownies, and how many times he has to be reminded to do his work. Up until recently, his contracts were ok but nothing spectacular, today was a different story. Are you all ready for this?
HE BROUGHT HOME A PERFECT CONTRACT!
All Smiles and NO reminders! My heart bursts with Joy and Pride. Admittedly, he is now on Methylphenidate (Ritilin) but, he was put on it to try and improve his schooling which, it seems to be doing after a week on the meds.

Oh and, I had to reschedule my interview for Thursday, stupid mass transit.

Somehow I have totally screwed up my AIM. Everytime I try to send a message it says they can't send it because I have blocked the recipient. But I haven't blocked anyone that I know of.

GDZ, if you can, try to get him on one of the XR versions of the drug...fewer ups and downs. And congrats. Nice, isn't it, to have a kid who actually enjoys being a kid? My daughter is so much less stressed out now that she's not freaking out all the time. Now, if we could only get her to move from one activity to another without taking forever...
But I will take the small victories.
Hypatia, don't know what to tell you. Have you tried going to your blocked list and seeing what's there?

Lentilla (Keeper of Non-Sequiturs) Posted Dec 15, 2004
Tra-la-la-la-la... Jumped... well, actually, plodded onto the scale today and found I'd gained five pounds without looking. And I'm already five pounds over what I had been six months ago... So no more Xmas cookies or any of that crap for me. One of the sales reps in our office brought in a basket of fruit for the night crew, bless her, because she knew that I'm always trying to stay healthy - so it's fruit, fruit fruit for me.
I don't know how I managed to gain weight like that - I've been working out and counting my calories, but somehow it just adds up. Perhaps it's just the drive-by snacking - few peanuts here, lollipop there, fragment of toffee popcorn... Argh. Well, my pants still fit, so that's a blessing.
Hurray for the perfect contract! Will he be getting five bucks? Or do you have some other sort of incentive program for him? I used to get five for every A, and 1 for every B - until I started making all A's, and then that incentive was discontinued. Which I thought was very unfair.
Key: Complain about this post
