Will go to eye doctor at the end of the week.
Bagpuss, thank you very much for volunteering to scribe!
I loved Ratatouille and recommend it.

That's okay Lil. I hope I don't make a mess of it.

Watched Ratatouille last night with D. I liked it. Didn't love it, though...

While brushing past medical stuff, has anyone a spare right-shoulder? Mine has been a nuisance for a few years, and a serious pain this winter. Okay, so I dislocated it a few times, did a one-handed cartwheel at about 40 mph when I was 19, but is that any reason for it to grind, click and pop with rotations?

In a general sense, home for me will always be Southwest Missouri. In the 'home is where the heart is' sense, it changes. It is wherever you're content and feel safe, meaning it can be a city, house, flat, seedy bar in SLC or a man's/woman's arms.
I am a lazy, worthless librarian who still hasn't finished that grant application and as such had to phone my mother and tell her I couldn't spend the day with her after all.

Oh, Hypatia, really, how could you? Your poor, dear, sainted mother!
*sarcasm starts dripping from the walls, and Matina swoops in to clean it up. It's quite sticky, sort of like honey*

As I'll be away tomorrow going visiting friends for the new year I'll get a toast in now.
Loony was always good for a sage nod at an appropriate moment and would happily declare the Hawkes Bay vintages as amongst the best in the world. I think he would be a good man to have to your table for dinner or drinks.

And we didn't go to see a movie, we went to the big Dr Who exhibition at one of the local museums. It was good fun. Featuring lots of props, costumes and models from the recent revival series. I'll try and get the photos online sometime soon.

Though I might be dropping by sometime tomorrow, I'll happily join in a toast to Looney and other absent friends

A quart of water please Matina. My housemate's idea of a glass of whisky goes way beyond what you might reasonably call a wee dram.

What *did* happen to Looney, anyway? Did he just decide not to make hootoo a part of his life anymore?
New Year's plans are as such: drinks and dinner downtown with friends. I will be home in the wee small hours, hopefully aglow with happiness rather than the sheen of hangover sweat.

New Year's Eve plans are as follows:
Go to bed at my normal time because I have to work New Year's Day.

Seems like the thing in my eye has become smaller today. Got a list of doctors in Roswell -- yay! -- to phone first thing in the morning, though.
Children set the upstairs alarms off twice today. It's the gilt stuff in the old Masons' Hall, I think. With the second lot of over-curious children, I leaned down and told them gravely that if they did it again I would have them sold into slavery. The parents found this enormously amusing.

Home. Hmm. In an abstract sort of way that would have to be Lebanon, if genes have a homing instinct, I guess. Having lived in 5 countries and more buildings than can be counted, I would have been hard pushed to say where home was a few years ago. At one point, for years, I was never in the same country for more than three months at a time. My home was my suitcase which was perpetually packed with the photo albums and all the letters I ever received having priority placement. The last house we lived in I was in for 11 years. I never thought I would be able to do that. Stay in one place that long.
Up until I hooked up with Trog, i had a recurrent dream every month or so. I was a tree looking for a hole in the ground to fit my roots. I never found one big enough I have not had that dream for 16 years.
Now home is where my boy and girl are.
We watched Enchanted, which we all loved for different reasons. It is one of those layered films with different things for different ages to see and recognise. The kids want to see The Bee Movie I am resisting.

Oh keep resisting, unless you can use it as an opportunity for an hour's doze.
