Hello, all. Am now back at home (my, or rather the landlord's, house) after spending the last week chez parents.
My parents' house is not home for me, although the area I grew up in is still where I consider 'home'. However, the house I think of as home is my house where I live now, even though it doesn't belong to me! I hope that made some sort of sense.
Glad to read that most people seem to have had a reasonable Christmas and especially that Hyp's cousin is recovering. Hope that everyone who is still feeling ill or experiencing strange things with their eyes gets better soon.

Ooh, ooh, I saw 'Enchanted' as well and really enjoyed it, particularly the wonderful Central Park production number. But it was fun, silly, happy stuff absolutely suitable for that No Man's Land between Christmas and New Year.

I'll be watching Ratatouille today, courtesy Netflix.
Otherwise a very quiet day is planned here at Casa Mia.

I've yet to see that, even though I bought it for D for Christmas...

Trying to get done all of the things I should have done yesterday but didn't so I don't still have all of them to do tomorrow.
New Year's resolution - stop procrastinating.

I really felt a need for 'a home of my own' during my late teens and mid twenties, now I'm a bit more secure in myself.
I've got a flat I'm moving out of which has all my rubbish small stuff in, and I have a house which has only furnuiture in. I got sick of moving, in one big go. I decided to hire a van to move the big stuff, which they did the morning. I have a bad habit of not unpacking ever, so I'm doing a car load at a time and unpacking as I go, unfortunately I don't have a car so I'm spending money on taxis. But I reckon it's only about journeys, at £4 a go.

About how many journeys? We lost a number there. And I've been in my house (definitely it is "home") about 7 years and still have some boxes that I haven't unpacked.

With two transcontinental and three smaller moves all done in the last three years I have things that have not seen the light of day since 2004

I saw Ratatouille when it was in the theaters, and Sporky bought me the DVD for Christmas. It's so sweet, the rats are super cute, and the food looks amazing, like it's actually real. I love that movie.

damn - seemed to have left my numbers at the other house.
The flat still feels like home, which is annoying because after removing all the furniture and leaving just basically junk and things I don't really need I can't do much here.
The house is currently tidy and organised.. the thing with taxi moves is that its far less daunting to unpack a taxi worth of stuff than a whole house full.

I seem to think it's going to be about five. So far have done two so some will have to be done tomorrow. Which is when I will have a lodger moving in so won't want to do some stuff here.
Mind you taxis are 24 hour..

I think I know where home is to me. It's a smal dive bar that I've been going to for the last decade. It's got a lousy selection of spirits, only a few beers on draft and an acceptable selection of bottles. It's smoky, dirty, run down and decrepit, but it's home. I just got back to my apartment from there, where I had the better part of a bottle of Maker's and I spent much of the time conversing with acquaintances. More than any place, this establishment constitutes the quality of home.
How bad is that? The domicile that I share with my closest family is not home, but a seedy bar in Downtown SLC is....

[p] Still catching up on the festive backlog. Thought I'd better do something here though.

Marv, not at all,
I certainly don't think home is where my parent is. The place I feel most comfortable with outside is not a particually smart place that has a bar and certainly could do with rebuilding inside, however I like the people who go there so is the best place for me.

Backlog complete so...
Home is here I think now. I'm not sure I ever did manage to feel at home when in Nodnol. Where my parents live might be home but the area around here most certainly is.
I think you should get the eye checked out by an eye doc Lil.
Not been to the pictures for ages, perhaps I should suggest doing that this afternoon.
