*Matina wheels in a sheet cake and a selection of canapés in which there are absolutely no corn products, for d'E's birthday*
I'm tired, and it's the middle of my work weeek. I really resent that I had to give up all my rest time to intense social stuff on the weekend, and now tonight is the Christmas party for the book group.

I know that I will probably be dead on my feet on Monday:
- Christmas office do on Friday (the one where I have on occasion posted drunk mutterings on my journal from the office while collecting my coat to go home)
- some friends invited for a Christmas Lunch (traditional DK name for a bash involving lots of food, beer and aquavit) on Saturday and advised to come without kids "as we can't be sure what the outcome may be "
- rounding off with a b'day invitation for lunch on Sunday
( just now realised that I may have a supplier in for a business dinner on Monday *faints*)

What a wonderful prize, Witty. The luxury of not-having-to-cook, once a week, every week

>>The luxury of not-having-to-cook, once a week, every week<<
I do that every week. It's called Friday nights, and it's a free-for-all. My kid wants something to eat, she gets it herself. I'm evil, but dangit all if I'm going to show her that women never get a break just because they're mothers.

As long as nobody minds and as we are decorating the Christmas Tree , I wheel in a temporary old fashioned Radiogramme in teak venir we had when I was a kid and place the original 1966 vinyle LP by Nina and Frederik called A Seasons Greetings on the turn table set to 33rpm naturaly. I was playing the LP this morning as I used to do when I was decorating the Christmas Tree when very young.

Ah, but Witty doesn't have to purchase the food, either.

That's a fantastic raffle prize, Witty! There are so many restaurants around here I haven't tried yet, and a few I could easily go to once a week over and over if my budget allowed it. I'm particularly addicted to a specific dish called Chicken Osaka at a local "pan-Asian" restaurant. It's chicken in two sauces, one ginger-mustard, the other garlic-white wine-butter, over seasoned jasmine rice. I think the chef secretly adds crack cocaine to both sauces, that's how addictive it is to me.
Happy Birthday d'E! --------> all the building and planting materials for next summer's lasagna garden.

Happy birthday d'E.
Impressive prize Witty. Are you suddenly very popular with lots of people you hadn't really spoken to before?

Although the Nina and Frederik LP is fairly sentimental it certainly is a Christmassy record unlike many are these days. Sadly the whole LP is not available on CD but a few tracks are on a mixture CD of their stuff. I suppose since the LP is around 45 years old it isn't surprising.

Oh, FG, I know that dish! I was always rather fond of it myself. And their steamed veggies are to die for.
Off to meetings, meetings, and more meetings. Today and tomorrow are meeting heaven. I hate meetings.

Yes, the word is out about my good fortune. But it's not like I have a huge social circle and I am looking forward to sharing my good luck with my friends. So let me know if any of you are planning on passing through the Jersey shore area.

*ponders the concept of "meeting heaven"; fails to understand*
I am kind of tempted Witty, but in budget terms a trip to the US to get a free meal probably isn't a brilliant plan.
