I'm on cookie baking detail for the fire fighters. We've just had a bunch arrive overland in a humongous truck, from New York City.

Right then. Should we start plotting -- I mean planning Egon's wedding now, or wait until he logs in again? I'm sure Kelli has some suggestions about locations.

Today is dumpster diving day in New Brunswick. All the students are moving home and leaving belongings that they can't fit into their cars at the side of the street. I saw several bed frames, box springs, and mattresses. I was going to look for an iron for Sol but I don't think the electrical requirements would match.

Humongous fire trucks are fine and dandy for the streets of NYC, but how will they fare on the sides of cliffs?

I have started subscribing to poetry and writing magazines here in the UK, Hypatia. You do have to pay to enter the competitions, but then the fees are divvied up as prize money. The charge is usually between £2 or £3 per poem. I am not in profit yet! smiley - laugh Oh and it was http://www.bethcargill.co.uk/afterwords.shtml#jigsaw The theme of the competition was "Castles in the air" and it seemed appropriate.

RULES OF THE GAME (reprise)

Object: to create a story, using only subject headers)

Rules: You have the option of participating or not.

smiley - spacesmiley - spacesmiley - spaceNOT: just put a few dots in the subject line, or ignore it entirely.

smiley - spacesmiley - spacesmiley - spacePARTICIPATING: build on what the poster before you has written in the subject header. A sentence may go on for many posts, or it might end in two or even one subject header. What happens is up to the creativity of the participants.

Try to make grammatic sense. Any other sort of sense is entirely optional.

Don't worry if there are simulposts: they tend to work themselves out.

long, but good day today. The chief's secretary had her retirement party, and I got to wear my civilian clothes and help out with all the arrangements. Much more fun than paperwork all day. Then we got to pig out! Yay! It's surprising how many officers there are on the force. We rarely see them at the station as they're always patrolling, but today as there was free food, the place was jam-packed! smiley - biggrin

I must say, though, that I will be sad to see her leave. She was a sweet, sweet lady who I enjoyed working with. Ah, well. That's life, I guess. The woman they hired to replace her seems very nice as well. And she went to Africa recently! *jealous*

Re-thinking the wedding plans. I don't really feel like a chapel wedding is "me" enough. Now I'm thinking a quick candlelight ceremony in a trendy restaurant in Vegas called the "Voodoo Cafe". It's half my love for the place, half my love for New Orleans and everything black magick, and half the fiance's heritage (he was born in NO). Yes, that's three halves. smiley - winkeye I think it would be far more "me" and completely different from what my other cousins have done or will do. WHich is the whole aim, to be honest. smiley - smiley

MR, I have a fantastic (read: very gentle) dentist in downtown LA if you feel up to a bit of a drive. I absolutely *LOATHE* going to the dentist, but I like this guy a lot. He's a master of reconstructive dentistry, and so gentle you almost forget he's a dentist. The lady who cleans teeth is a sweetheart, and she'll talk your ear off but never be mean to you. She's very gentle too. Let me know if you want the number. I know it's a long ways, but a good dentist (in my humble opinion) is worth it. smiley - smiley

Ben- Congrats on your achievment.

I might have my first bit of publication in the near future. If it works I'll be shamelessly plugging it here!

Yeah, there is a lot of difference between the big city firetrucks and the brush hogs they drive for the forrest fires. I was a little surprised to hear just how much more dangerous a forrest fire is to the crew than a building. Any brush jumpers there yet lil?

Well the Bank Holiday weekend is getting off to a traditional start, rain.

It is the County Show on Monday and only survives by the skin of it's teeth on the numbers attending, so we shall probably have to don macs, wellies and huddle in the beer tent, just nipping out for the duck racing (specially bred Indian racing ducks), the smiley - sheep judging, the keeping marquee and the farmer's produce market. I'm not fussed about the cattle judging, but the pigs are quite cute and chaos followed by havoc at the pet show is always worth watching.
