According to the link above regarding moderation, we still have reactive moderation on hootoo. The only automatic system I am aware of is the one that fails a post for various naughty words. In those cases, the system puts up a message to the researcher that the offending word(s) must be removed before the message will be allowed to post at all. That leads me to believe that someone yikesed the post. Let's all remember that we have lurkers (researchers as well as non-bbc registered folks) who have the ability to yikes posts.
*Waves to the lurkers. *

Hmm. I'm not sure I like the implication that whoever yikesed SS's post is therefore pro-terrorism.
Not that I approve of yikesing posts at all, and have never yikesed anything on hootoo and am not about to start now.

I have noticed when we have suffered attacks before , that the old brain goes into overdrive , switching from one emotion to the other , trying to make sence of it all and failing . Hate never solved anything and these people [ te**orists ] are consumed by it .
I am planning to go to London next saturday [ work permiting ]to see the prologue . They are not going to stop me from living my life as i see fit .

I'm glad (at least one of) the third bunch of ers injured himself. I'm smiling as I type.
I recently composed a post and used the n-word (it was during the discussion of rap). I really didn't think it would fly, but I gave it a shot. Right away I got the "better try again, dear" message. I think someone Linda'd Strangely.
Oh. Looking at last bit the above, *that* could be taken another way. Ahem.

And you're welcome, jollywinegums. Hopefully others will post, and it will make Strangely feel better and come back.

The weather is the main local news story here again. We've been checking the road closings, trying to find a way for Lady and Lord C to get back home tomorrow. Most of the highways in SE Kansas are closed due to flooding. It's still raining, so it seems unlikely that the situation will be any better tomorrow. The only way seems to be to go to Tulsa and head north from there, providing I-44 is still open in the morning. That would add 2 hours to the trip. It looks like I may have the pleasure of their company for an extra day.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Jul 1, 2007
I've been bitten by a rat. And I was trying to rescue the little so-and-so!
It was the second animal today -- Precious had brought a bird and let it loose to fly around the house. I was really really lucky to catch it as quickly as I did, and once outside it flew off with no apparent damage.
So I didn't even realise that Birdie had brought a rat in until I heard the ruckus in the kitchen area.
Once again I was lucky, and caught the rat pretty soon, using a hand towel to catch and then cocoon it. I was heading for the front door to release it into the night when it suddenly struggled upward, reached over and bit me really hard on the side of my index finger. And it didn't let go! Not until I was outside and had loosened the towel.
I was bleeding a lot and I washed it with lots of water and hydrogen peroxide, but my next-door neighbor absolutely freaked when I called, told her what had happened and asked for some bandaids. "You need rabies shots! she said.
I just about went into a frenzy of terror when she said that, envisioning shots in the stomach, but apparently medical tech has marched on and it's either one normal arm shot or a series of pills. Anyway, Cille got hold of a friend of hers who still works in EMT and got reassuring news. We were doing the right things, to just wash the wound and then cover it. There have been lots of mouse and rat bites this summer, and no rabies.
But Cille is completely paranoid and insists I have to go see the LPN first thing Monday.
I shall be an utter hypochondriac now, for the next few days.

Lil, Cille may be paranoid, but in this case, it's not exactly undeserved. It never hurts to take precautions with potentially fatal diseases.

Get medical attention, Lil. Rabies is more than potentially fatal. It is almost always fatal. I remember reading a news article about a teenager who survived rabies. That was the point of the story, that she survived.

Not good news about cars burning or otherwise.
Best to get it checked over Lil I think.
Yesterday we did go and look at some culture in the rain. We heard a woodwind quintet in a great big teepee like tent. Wandered around the city till it was time to eat and had a slap up meal (good restaurant we must go there again) then it was time for the theatre. Well it's a grand old style theatre on the inside and the performance was WOW! Spectacular. Monkey, Journey to the West based on the old chineese legend. Full of acrobatics, dancing contortionists, fighting and even some cartoon animated sequences. WOW (again). It was certainly worth going to see.

Apparently not. I was wondering about Todaymueller starring it out.
Lil. I'm pleased to hear you don't need the old shot in the stomach like Ozzy Osbourne had to have. I agree that going to see the
(what's an LPN by the way? Local something Nurse?) is a good idea, but I've no idea how quickly you need to go, ie whether or not "first thing Monday" is sensible or paranoid. Anyway, go.
