I'm barely a drinker at all, but my favorite pub was Ye Old Mucky Duck in Santa Monica, followed too closely for courtesy by the John Bull in Pasadena...both no more, sadly. Great fun, the both of them!

Favourite watering holes...
Salt Lake City:
X-Wife's Place. Good dive bar with pool tables, darts and great company.
Area51. Gothic themed dance club with good barstaff and good music.

Denver, Colorado:
Pint's Pub. An English style pub with a Tardis out front. Microbrewery that servers a great cask conditioned dark ale. They also have hundreds of varieties of Single Malt.

Raliegh, NC:
The Flying Saucer. Just like the one in texas. Lots of beer, good food.
East Village. Great bartender/waitress Amy will hook you up if you mention me. Good vibe, if a bit young.

Have just finished making enough sandwiches for 350 cyclists because I'm helping out at my Dad's Big Annual Cycle Ride Round (and round and round) the County tomorrow. Tonight I have been invited to atend the local Mayor's soiree in honnor of the event, but owing to a cock up in the catering will be womanning the bar instead of merely swanning around hoovering up the buffet.

Attention Salonista cooks! I've got a question:

I've got about twenty gigantic Eureka lemons from the tree in my sister's backyard in California. I've got a bunch of lemon-themed recipes on hand to make in the upcoming week or two, but I am also thinking about making my own limoncello:

Has anyone made limoncello at home and did it turn out well?

FG, some friends of mine make Limoncello, will ask them, but you need very strong alcofroll and a large bottle (so you can fit the lemons in as well )

Right, have got the recipe, from an Italian friend.

You will need litre of strong alcofroll (95-100 percent proof)add to that the zest ONLY of 5-6 lemons leave in a large stoppered container for 5-6 weeks

After this add a litre of water, just off the boil with 900g sugar(granulated) disolved into the water. Leave for another week, strain and bottle.

Drink chilled
