Hello, unknown visitor :-)
It's nice to see people here. Can't stay long, kids are hungry!
To put it in a nutshell, I am an English language teacher, stranded in a non-English-speaking country for family and money reasons, speaking in my unique dialect of the English language for about 8 hours a day to my students, who seem to be naive enough to believe it's English. I would be very happy to stop deceiving them and do some thorough learning and travelling instead had I the slightest chance to. Money! Kids are hungry, also they can't do with just a pair of shorts the year round, although the climate is getting friendlier and friendlier.:-D Family and language are my interests, which means I'm interested in more things than I would be able to address in a squillion of lifetimes. Not that I believe in reincarnation.
Is there anyone around feeling an irresistible 'urge to correct others' mistakes'? You are very welcome to give advice on words and meanings and improve my writing to the extent that nothing is left of the original message. :-D If necessary, we could ask Jack for an exclusive permission to break point 3 of his brilliant Posting rules.:)
Here's my favourite quote - alas, reworded. I came across it in my hootoo wanderings and carelessly failed to make a note...(If you know where I saw the original words or who they belong to, please let me know!)
"Freedom of speech takes the time
that people could devote to freedom of thought"
The above doesn't mean I don't want you to talk to me: you are very welcome!
There's another helpful anonymous quote:
"If you want to say something nice, say it."
