The popup was a bit slow loading, so I closed it - no idea what it was
Ah yes - Wodehouse! Always enjoyed, have re-read and own several of his novels - but I've got to say I like his biographical works best - absolutely hilarious! Even when he was imprisoned by the Germans during WW2...

I'm so sorry Marv, you're a really decent person you don't deserve this.
For the rest of you Marv was really helpful when a fellower hooter was having a crisis on IM in the early hours last night.

Marv, my Mum used to say that something will turn up, she was invariably right and I'm sure it will.
I hope that one day we can have the meet up to top all meet ups, the Salonistas hold a Salon Meet!

Marv, I know it sucks. But I'm just thinking about how much less stress you'll have not working there...
(okay, okay, I'm trying to think positively)
as far as books I would like to add to the Bonfire of Bores, Maitland's History of English Law, Faulkner, and (dare I say) Hemingway. I really hate hemingway.

for Marv.
I know it's traumatic, Marv, but I have a feeling that it really is for the best. You are going to turn up something terrific in the job department.

dw2 - it's short for 1/2(dw)^2 Posted Jul 31, 2003
for Marv.
That 'n blows!
I got laid off a while back. I remember how much it sucks. I know it's no consolation right now, but everybody I know that's been laid off has ended up in a better (read more $$$$, less stress) position very shortly.

Cisco have decided to turn all their outsourcing to offshore vendors. India, Costa Rica, Mexico and the Phillipines all will continue to work.
There is a staggered layoff and I am in the first round (it is based on team) which starts 12 September.

Oh no! Right before your birthday. That stinks.

Interesting about the off-shore outsourcing. I have grandiose geo-economic theories about that, but this is neither the time nor the place.
Are they paying you off, as well as laying you off?
Ben
(PS - I am going to be gadding about till next Thursday, I'll drop in whenever I can, but don't be surprised if you don't see me for 6 days).

I'm awfully sorry Marv. But you've been just miserable there. So, maybe it's for the best. You're so talented. I'm sure something will turn up.
Throw Eudora Welty on the fire. And John Updike. Borrrrrrrrrrrring. I'm not too crazy about Joyce Carol Oates, either. And Colleen McCollough. She wrote one good book. The rest have been snoozers. I love novels about classical Greeece and Rome, but hers are slow-moving and predictable. And Barbara Taylor Bradford only wrote one good book.

thanks all for the co-miseration.
I will get a whopping 3 weeks of severence pay which is taxed much higher than wage. Beyond that, it is unemployment in whatever form I can take it till I find a new job.
