Argh! So they've turned some of the battle grounds in WoW into 'daily quests' which means that you, as a level 29, 39 and so on find yourself teamed up with levels 21, 31 and so on - and no, I am not amused, because I lose big time every time I end up in a team like that! Gaah!
Apart from WoW, I've found a site with quite a few games:
http://www.miniclip.com
Warning though - that's probably the site that caused my spyware to find doubleclick and tradedoubler while I was playing the games in IE, until I updated my Opera...
Two games that I've found to be especially addictive are Sushi Go Round and Papa Louie

when turn-ins were actually worth xp (i guess they are again...), i used to do bgs while leveling as well. i might start it up again on some of the characters i'm leveling.
it sucks that the people who keep themselves in that bracket (not necessarily twinks) can't have a bg without the lower levels, but it would suck just as much to have to be 19, 29, 39, 49, 59 or 70 in order to do bgs.

Well, lower levels are OK as long as the enemy have them as well, but what do you do if you find yourself facing an opponent time consisting of only level 19, 29, 39 and so forth? That's the kind of situation that really gets to me!

Eh, this is one of the reasons I'm not a huge fanatic about MMORPGs. I mean ... I've got dozens more reasons specific to me if you want any, but ...

Eh.... how do you feel about getting blessed and healed by a complete stranger in - say - WoW...?
Me, I appreciate it and always say 'thanks'.
Starting on a new Draenei character, I found everyone thanked whoever buffed them in Draenei newbie land.
But in night-elf newbie land, not a single sole said thanks.
And I'm wondering - how come?

Dizzy H. Muffin Posted Feb 2, 2008
Hmm. Could be any number of reasons -- possibly there's something different about the Draenei newbie area that made people more likely to thank people than the Night Elf area, and now everyone says thanks in the Draenei area *because* they see everyone thanking everyone else, and nobody does in the Night Elf area *because* they see that nobody thanks anyone else. Some sort of variation on the "bystander effect."

Came across a very addictive online Mahjong game that drives me nuts.
See, in order to move on to next level, you have to solve the current one.
If you fail, you start over with the same layout, the same bricks. The only thing different is which pieces you start with...

If we're going to talk about addictive online pastimes, I should mention the http://tvtropes.org/ wiki, which I find much more mentally stimulating than Mahjong (which I don't actually know how to play) ...

My theory about why the NE starting area is full of chumps is that NE is the default that all the 12 year olds that play the game tend to go for. Mature players tend toward Horde in my experience. Those who play alliance tend toward Dranei or gnome for some reason.

Haven't played WoW for aaaages. Too engrossed in the WAR Beta... but it's still very hush hush. *taps nose conspiratorially*

I play off and on - I'm thoroughly fed up losing in Warsong Gulch fighting against level 19 twinks with level 10s on my side.
Lately I've been trying out Ikariam dot org
I managed to pillage one village, but lost swordsmen trying to pillage two other low level villages on the same island as the first one - I wonder if the first village I attacked warned the others so that they had time to recruit an army to defend their villages?
*note to self - attack all villages on the same island at the same time*

On a more ... testosteronic note, I've been working on-and-off on a Half-Life 2: Deathmatch map, with plans for porting it onto other games (i.e. Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, etc); the balance is somewhat skewed in favor of players who want to die. It consists of two fairly simple buildings facing each other, with the "main action" going on between them: first, you have a large, wide-open space with zero cover, nearly all of it in full view of a "sniper's nest" in each building, which also have no cover and are easier to get into than out of. Underneath the wide-open space, there is a maze of twisty little passages, all alike, with ''plenty'' of cover but no way of knowing what you'll run into next.
And then there'll be the secret passages. If you know how to get into the secret passages, and other players don't, the balance will quickly shift in your favor ...

'U.S. Spies Want to Find Terrorists in World of Warcraft'

Mlevel 20 gnome warlock recently tried to do a warlock quest in the Barrens and got killed again and again by a level 70 night elf rogue - can I get back at him by reporting him as a 'potential terrorist'?

I don't know what they expect to accomplish from analyzing ingame *faces*, if I read that right. It's not like players aren't made from a limited pool of models.

*cough, cough*
Oh boy, some big cobwebs here, no?
Anyway - I've noticed that a lot of NPCs seem to be stuck in WoW since update no.??? and I yet again alerted a GM about a stuck NPC.
And you know what? I think I ended up with a GM that actually plays WoW because here's what he/she said, besides actually turning up in person (which was my first encounter with an actual, visible GM):
'X threatens Warlord Sriss'tiz with the wrath of doom.'
And when asked if I needed any more help, my character replied 'nah, I'll be fine now I think - just need to kill my way to the exit!:P'
And the GM response was:
'Hehe ok then, farewell and have fun!'
Uh? Considering this server happens to be RP, all other GMs I've come across have been rather formal, but this persona...

Hmm ... [tries to find system requirements]
You know, I generally get bored with mumorpuguhs within a few days, at approximately the same time I have to stop doing "interesting things" (i.e. Missions) and do level grinding.
