i generally smile and wave, mouthing the word "hello"
in response to someone 'flipping me the bird' as some call
the one finger salute over here.
Meanwhile, i privately wonder why they are so proud about
having as many brain-cells active as the number of
digits they are extending.

Good morning y'all! The morning is smokeless but heavy with gypsum dust from Alamogordo, again.
sea, I've been on both sides of that near-accident, and I bet it was caused by the fact that you were in his blind spot, the place that neither neither rear-view nor wing mirrors seem to cover. I have learned to take note of my position relative to a car in the next lane; if I am at his 4 or 5 o clock position, I may be invisible, ~especially~ if I have been driving faster than him or the person in front of me -- my speed means I wasn't there the last time he/she looked.
I have cut in on people and been cut in on the same way, and it's terrifying for the cutter as well as the cuttee. If I'm the guilty party I always hold up a hand, palm open (peace) then put it to the side of my head to indicate why I nearly killed them. This is always accepted, at least by experienced drivers and always by young guys.
Your adversary may have been a rude a**hole, but take into consideration he may also have been coping with an adrenaline rush as he realised what he almost did (died).
*looks at job list* Now what am I going to avoid doing since taxes are completed?

Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Mar 25, 2002
I have put a curse on all concrete mixer lorries about 15 years ago when one very nearly succeeded in killing me in a similar scenario to sea's. I was in a different sort of blindspot - too low down for him to see even though I had just about passed him by the time he pulled out. I renew the curse every time I see one of those lorriesand it has been remarkably effective. I have seen no end of them dead in ditches or lying forlornly on their sides having failed to negotiate mini-roundabouts.
The offending driver in the story recounted above must have paid a backhander to the police because they tried to prosecute me for dangerous driving - until I pointed out that he had collided with the back of my vehicle. Were they going to claim that I reversed into him on a duel carriageway? The charges were dropped.

Since we seem to be sharing things lately,
http://www30.brinkster.com/owenwn/cantrio.jpg
A temporary (very temporary) home as my webiste isn't being recognised at the moment. That is a picture that I painted and added texture to. I also removed the stamen from the flower as it was bothering the heck out of me.
Thoughts?

I think brinkster is being unnecessarily coy. Could we have another method of accessing the image, please.
Amy, was that a deliberate double entendre, calling the road a duel carriageway?

To get to the image, follow the link, then delete the name of the image and go to that address, then add it again.
And it looks very good Sporky.

I'm frequently in the blind spot of lorries, especially the double trailer type. My car is low to the ground too, which makes it worse.
I always look over my shoulder as well as check the mirrors and assume that I haven't been seen even if I see them. Hence the need for a prompt response if I need to get out of the way.
Left a hello for your Mum, Candi.

If you're using internet explorer, copy the link and past into your browser. http://sporky.net is giving me weird statements, so I can't give you the link there
Well, I can
http://sporkulious.digitalrice.com/Pics/cantrio.jpg but it won't work. I just know it won't

Photoshop, as always. I made my own canvas texture, which I'm happy with. I added a few scratches here and there to make it look a bit more effective.

Good to hear that you missed catastrophy Sea.
Well, my ISP is being a pain anymore so I am switching to a new one within a week or so. I curretly have no access to anything save from work which means that I cannot get to my hotmail.
Anyone else rememberr when Hotmail was cool?
rotate.the.sheild.harmonics.hotmail . com was a favourite one, sadly now defunct with the switchover to the passport system.
[Note to moderators, that is not a URL anymore. Remove if you need to, but I intentionaly broke it so it will not link]

I think I shall have to release a bit of the D drive if I'm going to get anything else on to the C drive portion. Or a new PC.........

I'd view your artwork, Sporky, but my computer won't let me go there. *sigh*
Did anyone else think Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz looked awful last night? Each is worth millions of dollars, has teams of stylists and personal assistants to help them, agents to advise them, and they still looked like two heroin junkies that rolled out of some alley 20 minutes before the Oscar ceremony.

SE Posted Mar 25, 2002
G's top was certainly something
Cameron looked like she crawled out of bed, threw on her robe and a scrunchie and came directly to the Oscars.

That's a very pretty flower, Sporky. I like things that have texture. What was the problem with the stamen?
48Xth Conversation at Lil's
SE Posted Mar 25, 2002
Well, as you can imagine, there is something very phallic about a stamen. I didn't think it fit.

Witty Moniker Posted Mar 25, 2002
Ah, but if the flowers didn't have stamens, there wouldn't be an baby flowers. Perhaps a strategically placed, little tiny scarf would have helped.

*Rushes in*
Grudge-Match emergency, everyone, Grudge-Match emergency!
Plan 9 From Outer Space is actually *LOSING* the battle to decide the worst movie of all time!!!!! How can it lose? It's the crown jewel of Ed Wood's legacy of horrific movies! It's the only movie so bad that MST3K wouldn't show it! *BELA LUGOSI DIED THREE DAYS INTO SHOOTING, AND HE'S THE BEST ACTOR IN THE WHOLE FILM*!!!!!
Sorry, had to catch my breath. But can you believe that it's losing? Anyway, sorry to keep butting in with this kind of thing, but would people mind heading to http://www.grudge-match.com to vote for it? Remember, you can vote once an hour.
Anyway, sorry to interupt, but this is a big one.
Key: Complain about this post
