Marv's "Killer" salad dressing:
make a simple vinegrette of balsamic vinigar and olive oil (extra virgin for flavour)
add crushed and sliced red raspberries, torn and slivered basil (use a chiffinade to make very thin herb ribbons), oregano, crushed rosemary, black pepper, kosher salt, chili pepper flakes, honey and lime juice. Whisk till mixed and toss into greens.

d'oh! I forgot the third most important ingerdiant! Garlic.. Sliced along with minced garlic. The slices give you a wonderfull garlic flavour and the mince will give it a great smell and pleasant bitterness. That is why you need the honey anyway!

Here's another BBQ hint. Ensure your meat is not blue
Correction: Dunedin's town square (where the piper is playing) is actually an octagon.

but can I still have it rare? A good steak, rare. Potato and onion packets (red onions and potatoes sliced very thin, topped with butter and salt and fresh cracked pepper, wrapped in a doubled foil packet and put on the bbq 'til soft on top and crispy at the bottom.)

A good barbeque always has some shishkebab: steak and scallops marinated in tequila and lime juice, mushrooms, baby red potatoes, whole garlic cloves, bell pepper, mango, onions, and pineapple slices all brushed with olive oil and lemon juice. Its much easier to let people build their own than listen to them complain because they don't like a certain item.

My BBQ's usually feature fleh cooked in a varieties of ways. Ribs, steaks chicken etc. I really want to try out some other things too. I would not eat it, but I think that it would be cool to make ceviche some day. Why is it that fish dishes look so fun to make but taste sooo bad? I hate fish.

FG....not that I'm knocking poultry...and yes, kabobs of any sort are great. Build your own dinner and all that. But there is something to be said for a steak hot off the grill.

Fish probably tastes better in states that have a coast rather than a giant salty puddle.
I'm turned off by meat right now, after reading an article in the NY Times magazine last week. Not so turned off that I won't eat it, but now it makes me sad when I think of the poor fat cow that I'm eating.
And US schools go like this: Kindergarten 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Freshman Sophmore Junior Senior (also called 9 10 11 and 12). Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior get repeated for College/University, except that "Freshman" is not politically correct and has been replaced by the gender-neutral "First Year Student" in official circles. Often grades 5 and 6 are separated and called "Middle School", while 7 and 8 (and sometimes 9) are "Junior High", and 10, 11 and 12 (and sometimes 9) are "High School". And they're called grades, not levels. Up to 12th grade is mandatory (until 18 years old) in most states.
And my grandmother went to "Normal School" where she learned to be a teacher.

d'Elapant, there are a few "Normal Schools" down here in Godzone. They seem to be popular and, from what I've read, seem to do a pretty good job of turning out 'well-rounded young adults'.

The phrase "Normal School" has long been out of favor here. It was replaced by "Teacher's College" and then later by "School of Education". Ah! - I found a history: http://www.bc.edu/bc_org/avp/soe/te/pages/docstudwork/ed711/pages/normal1.html
Quite dull, really.
