Wow. A crash course in the Brittish School System. I am still stymied, but I think that I get it now.
On colour. Blue is my favourite colour for cars and clothes. Purple is about my favourite colour for anything else.

I'm sorry I missed the veggie discussion as well. I've seen a blue--real blue not just purple--hot pepper, but I don't remember the name at all. Peppers always have the funniest shapes and colors...
Thanks to daylight savingst time our daylight lasted until 8:30pm. It was lovely.

Simulpost FG?
To clarify my past post. I am still confused at the schooling levels in the UK, but I think I understand now where the confusion lies.

Finished the first book of the Dark Materials trilogy today. Great book! I have the second two books on hold from the library, but won't be going to the library until Tuesday night. But I want the next book NOW!
Found a Dark Materials web site:

Oh, just thought I'd let you know. I'm back in my office again (from my temporary quarters in the conference room). And I got all new furniture! Hoooeeeeee! Took a little while to get everything put away, but now that I have been here for a couple of weeks, it feels like home.

Hello, all.
I picked up the Dark Materials boxed set at Barnes and Noble this weekend. My 10 year old promptly appropriated it. I'll have to read it after she goes to bed each evening.

Lonnytunes - Winter Is Here Posted Apr 8, 2002
Morning all. Brisk but sunny down here in Godzone.
From the BLOG: Munchers, you are correct, it was World War One when daylight saving was first introduced in many countries. Interestingly, like Britain, NZs licensing laws were also affected. Pubs had to close at 6pm. This sad state of affairs lasted until the 1970s. Closing time was known as the "Six O'clock Swill". One 'good point' about the system was that at least the wifes and mothers knew when their menfolk would roll home for dinner.
NZs school system is pretty similar to the Scots version described by Munchers. This Scot connection probably helps explain why today a piper is playing a lament in memory of the Queen Mum - on the hour every hour - in the town square of Dunedin (Gaelic for Edinburgh), our fourth largest city.

Garius, great that you have your own office space back new and improved. And thanks for the Pullman link -- it leads to a complete description of the alethiometer and how to read it. Tres complicated.
*goes off to look at the blue article*

thingy, what thing would that be?
No, I just think in an industrial society, there really is no need for daylight savings. Although I will admit that the longer evenings are nice for me. Makes it hard to put the small person to bed...but mommy, it's still day outside! and the like.
I'm in the mood to BBQ.......I'm going to fire up the grill. Would anyone like to contribute to the fest?
