Good morning everyone! I really must start a new conversation when I get back from the accountant and the hairdresser and the Mighty WalMart today.
Matina is there any fresh tea left? Oh, you've been baking again? Cool! Anybody for fresh cinnamon buns?
I will definitely have things to say about whether a philosophy degree is "easy", when I get home!!
No-one has mentioned Erector Set, one of the easiest toy sets to lose bits of. After several years my brother and I had a mish-mash of lego, erector set, Lincoln logs and my stepdad's matchbox cars, and I used to spend lots of time making small towns.
*heads for library with tea and bun*

I didn't say a Philosophy degree was easy Lil, that is the bit No1 son finds toughest because there are no cut and dried answers, he has done the barest minimum of modules in that subject!
In fact I suspect he finds it tough because he can't rely on his memory as much and has to do some work to get the grades!
It will be good to see him tomorrow.

The good thing about philosophy, is that nobody can prove you wrong!
You can talk some absolute garbage and still make it sound good!!
If his memory's that good, get him to read some decent philosophy books, and quote some of the paragraphs and then discuss them.
Never did understand philosophy anyway.....

My first degree used to be in Natural Philosophy but they changed the name to Physics in the eighties, so thats what I got. Doesn't sound half as cool. However the second one lets me sound all intellectual down the pub. Strange how the word Philosophy brings with it a whole image of being very clever which just doesn't hang about with, say, English or Topographical Science, even if done at the same level.

Most people in my local pretend to be philosophers....just the type that after a few beers get maudlin and morbid.....fantastic company on a Friday night
I suppose I could always be a philosopher.....I can talk garbage for hours!! And I can make it believable!

Philosophy and theology, huh?
State the God exists/does not exist as necessary and use philosophy to prove it!!
Could come in very useful in future debates!

Note to self: kick Sporky very soon.
My cousin and I combined our Legos sets with our Star Wars figurines (this was back in the 70s), which made for some really exciting battles with the Empire. Plus we had our Han and Leia have an affair--which pre-dated the Empire Strikes Back. We weren't psyhic-- we just thought Luke was a wimp.

No one's mentioned Tinker Toys yet! Not the stupidly plastic modern ones, of course, but the real ones made out of wood!
I've got a few of those stashed away. You can lose a lot of time having fun with those!

What ho, all!
Ah, holidays at last. And a whole two weeks of them, too. Pity they'll be used primarily for the purpose of revising for my ex*ms and finishing off coursew*rk.
I am a philosopher only in the sense that I have some pretty neat ideas about Life and so on. I'm a thinker, you could say. Can't for the life of me win arguments, though.
Oh, might I welcome anyone new here who I have not yet welcomed! AlecTrician springs to mind. Welcome.
I opened a second bank account today. My last one didn't give me a Solo card, which I need for my Domain Group Network dealings.
Right, now off to work on more websites than the mind can comfortably concieve...

Ack and oy vey! I have been so wrapped up in my computer issues that I have been very rude and remiss in welcoming new faces....please, forgive me. I can be such an insensitive b***h sometimes!
Ah, yes. Legos are wasted on the young. And what 6 year old has the manual dexterity to put Barbie's clothes on? I have trouble with them sometimes!
Compy's in the shop again...I gave up on it, and now the "experts" are taking care of it.
Our school district hands out, in class, free tickets to the circus. While I understand they're trying to be nice, it is for the Shriners. Having Shriners in my family, I know they do a lot of nice things, but they *are* a Christian organization. And I don't have anything against them personally, but whatever happened to separation of church and state? And what if I was one of those parents (which I am close to being) who believes that the circus is wrong, and the way they treat their animals is inhumane? While I understand that some children would not get to go without some sort of local vendor assistance, the tickets should not be handed out willy-nilly in school!
Thanks, I feel better. Matina, could I have a diet soda, please?

Robot wars - yes, TV3 (broadcasting in Swedish but from London) shows that - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Wheely Big Cheese! (I'm not sure how updated these shows are...)
Has anyone seen the lid to my small saucepan? It's read, with a black nob on top... I think I have some pretty nasty borrowing bogles... <./>A206759</.>
...but I can't find the lid anywhere! It's a small pan with thin bottom, and I only use it to boil eggs - but the lid is gone!
There are only 3 places for it: the stove, the dish drainer or the kitchen drawer - and I have the pan, but the lid is nowhere to be seen!
I'm single, so nobody messes with my things, and the only person who has keys to my flat besides myself is my Mom, and I doubt that she would travel 1.5 hours by train to nick one of my pan lids!
I'm not a sleep walker, unless I've become one very recently...
I've searched the kitchen and even every other room in my flat - and I can't find it!
And then, a couple of days ago, I noticed that my tin of gourmet salt was gone - I keep all spices in one kitchen cupboard - and it's no longer there! And I searched my flat again (easy - living room, bed room, kitchen, bathroom).
What is going on? A pan lid? A tin of salt? What the h*ll is going on? Gaaaahhhh!!! It causes so much frustration!!!
