Last chance to see is an excellent idea......I will get it out of the library next week. Been meaning to read it for ages anyway.....

......though I'm still in the middle of "Made in America" by Bill Bryson, "Rotten" by John Lydon (both very good)and "Nailed by the heart" by Simon Clark (his first, and unfortunately, not very good IMO)

By the way, pleased to meet you Mac smiley - smiley

Four votes for Last Chance to See, and Professor Tonks has admitted to being related to a Scotsman! Egad.

Spent the afternoon completing the nuts-and-bolts part of a drawing in two-point perspective. It involved drafting tools, some figgerin, and the full use of the dining table, so I had to kick the cats out for a few hours...

I'll jump on the Last Chance To See bandwagon. The greatly missed Mr.Adams should have written more non fiction.

Hello to you, Candi smiley - smiley

Morning all and Happy Mother's Day to those who are and those who aren't: clear up after you!

H decided to cook last night and I have just spent an hour clearing up the kitchen! He is forgiven though, because the meal was delicious and even though he is a veggie, he cooked a pork steak for me. Also he is now in the garage replacing the head gasket and, hopefully, rebuilding the engine, with No2 son. Please all keep your fingrs crossed for them!

No1 son hasn't managed an ecard either! But No2 son put his name to the card, champagne and bowl of houseplants that he gave me this morning. I'm not really cross with him, I know he does care and he is looking forward to coming home in a couple of weeks. He is so tall and skinny, Lil that I will have to feed him! I think it can only be the weight of his boots that stop him being blown away down there in the Valleys.

BTW the wind is back, blowing the blossoms from the trees and bashing down the daffodils. The garage door is creaking nastly, but is still holding on.

Last Chance To See is an amazing book. I especially liked the chapter about the Komodo Dragons. I'll vote for that right now, though I haven't been able to read the backlog to see what else is in contention.

Good morning everybody! It's a cold morning in Lincoln, round about 20 F, but will get up to about 65, I reckon.

As it's the weekend, we're missing some salonistas on account of it being the weekend, so more book votes need to come in, but I believe Last Chance to See is a good selection, being ecological, about animal issues, international, and also very funny in parts.

Cleaning day. I'll be in other parts of the place with Chloe, if anybody needs me.

Ouch! What did you do? Will your hands take a long time to mend?

Still, you can always type with your anten... oh dear, it must be hard not being an ant.

Just watched 15 minutes(!) on TV from the Paralympics - this is something that really annoys me, how the Paralympics are ignored by the media!smiley - cross

Sweden's medals in the Olympic Games 2002: 2 silver and 4 bronze medals
TV coverage: hours and hours and hours, day and night, morning and evening

Sweden's medals in the Paralympics: don't know yet, since it's not over yet, 7-16 March, but in Nagano, they came home with far more medals than the non-disabled competitors!
TV coverage so far: 15 minutes!

Oh, I'd love to see some of the non-disabled athletics trying to compete in the Paralympics!
