Salonistas who have been paying attention will recall I mentioned that Englebert Humperdink and the Seekers were performing in my home town on Saturday. Excitingly, underwear played a part in the show.
Between them, Engelbert and The Seekers delivered a main course comprising a glittering slice of Las Vegas after a foot-tapping call at a folkie’s coffee lounge as an entree.
The Seekers’ performance received an enthusiastic roaring plea for an encore, while Engelbert — after a smoothly professional 90 minutes-plus performance, received the almost obligatory knickers from a couple of admirers up the front.
He responded with a few hankies — hopefully not one of the 20 he jokingly reckoned Tom Jones tucked down the front of his trousers when he performed.

Mac, the particular portion of Utah that the cross country race is being held is on of the most godawful places in the state. For the most part Heber is a pimple on the butt of Utah.
The restraunts are full now, it was just during the opening gala that you could get the whole place to yourself. There are about 60 80 thousand visitors per day in Salt Lake from what the local news reckons.

Thanks Amy! We'll have our own graphic yet!
Regarding thongs, perhaps it requires a certain conformation which I never had, even when I was extremely thin. I would like to hear more about Galactic mental underwear. Are there mental wonderbras?
Thanks Chris and Titania for giving me directions to your own mugshots. Titania, you won the badge competition with the picture I did? If so, I am extreeeeemely pleased and gratified! I shall put it on my resume. And Professor, I don't recollect you saying anything about the meet, here at the atelier, but it looks as if you enjoyed it.
I went out to my property late this morning to try and lay out a rudimentary floor plan, and before I knew it it was past 3 in the afternoon. I have a touch of sunburn -- good thing I wore my cowboy hat. The plan is more or less in place and I took some pictures, including some panoramas from at least 100 feet up the hill.
Listen, would somebody take a couple of these trays of mbougatses to the aroma cafe? Matina, no more, please. 10 trays is enough. I'll take some over to the BOF Inn.

though Titania hinted at it, she left it for me to say that I was the one with her in the photo in the pink trousers (with the thong underneath ....wearing the t-shirt that I also won for my badge!!
Here's another one of me (one of Munchkins, actually):

i went to see an independent student theatre production this evening. was VERY odd. actually, my friend megan and i left at intermission without realizing, that's how odd it was. we thought it was over!
then we went and had some taco bell - absolutely the LEAST healthy food in the universe! it's the mcdonalds of mexican food. delicious in its unhealthiness. just what i needed. feeling much better now.

Morning GL, Sailors, especially submariners are a particularly unhygeinic bunch at the best of times - especially in Hornblowers day, living conditions were a challenge to say the least! Pursuing Belize as a holiday destination, it is far enough south of the Watford gap to render it socially acceptable, you never sea any soldiers because they are all lost in teh jungle, and it has the second longest barrier reef in the world, awesome mayan ruins, and some stunning marine features called blue holes, and Skips Turtleshack is the best bar in the world, although the Hogs Breath in cairns is pretty cool, and the Mekong View in Stung Treng has a certain ambience!

Hugs for FG and MT. Terrible thing loosing ones you love, and undoubtably worse to have to contemplate it in advance, I suspect.
I saw LOTR at the weekend. Whoohoo. Finally. And I liked it, too which was a relief after all this waiting. Must say I had never realised quite how few females there are in it, but on the other hand I ain't compaining Mind you, I wasn't impressed by the elf everybody seems to like. Me I prefered Frodo's curls and contact lenses.
My Thong episode is too embarrassing to relate, so I won't. I did ritually burn the five pairs I ever possed afterwards though, and now live in Marks and Sparks unseemed (?) comfort pants. Which was probably more information than you really needed.
I am also enjoying the winter olympics (sorry Marv), especially the 'spot the brits' game I get to play over here. You never realise how slanted the coverage is until you come to another country and find the camere firmly fixed on the National Team. Mind you, I suppose the Beeb has it's problems trying to find British competitors who are in the top one hundred finishers too.
Dear me, and there was I admiring the scenery. We really need some snow here. Or someone to clear up the rubbish.
Drat, I was going to say something smart about Belize and a possible correlation between Monk's underwear and his Surry Highlanders', but I forgot what it was...

I noticed the minor earthquake last night. I was just too tired to do much with it I think.
I took a trip downriver to Greenwich - home of many sailors for centuries. I hadn't realised that martime greenwich (the college, old observatory, queen's house, cutty sark etc) is a world heritige site.

Sol, is the online website any good to you, or don't M&S deliver overseas?
I didn't experience any earthquakes here, apart form No2 son going up and downstairs. He just can't do that quietly, even in the dead of night when everyone else is asleep!
Years since I've been to Greenwich, I remember being bored stiff, but I believe the museum has been greatly improved since. The buildings are quite magnificent though.
Good pub there too, I seem to recollect.

Online ordering too... complicated. For me, anyway. I have no bank account here, for one, and loading up a credit card which I would have to pay off by some kind of fancy footwork with savings accounts I have no idea how to get at in Britain, sort of asking relatives to do something... There probably is a simpler way, but I prefer just to visit the old country
My dad is a bit of a sailing/navel nut. And he likes museums in general. So I've been, more than once. I can't remember much about the museum (they blend in after a while), but the area is really nice, I entirely agree. And you can walk under the Themes through this dripping tunnel near there too, which is just too cool. Or was when I was 12 or so.

Phil Posted Feb 11, 2002
The museum is quite good I thought. It's free to get in (like the other major national museums in London). I always like going round the back to see the sundial (a sculpture of two dolphins).
I heard on the radio something that the brits are best at in SLC right now. Ticket touts. It seems some enterprising souls have gone out there trying to scam tickets.
45Xth Conversation at Lil's
Phil Posted Feb 11, 2002
The tunnel is still there but the DLR (trains with no drivers!) now goes under the river to Greenwich and beyond.
The other bit I wanted to add is that there are lots of nice pubs in the area. Shame most are full of tourists at the weekend
