That's the kind of gift I like, a holiday! Preferably with room service. And if it's tropical in nature, a bar in the pool is mandatory.

Ack! I did not slay the backlog, I scattered it!
Happy birthday, and ...
well I guess I'll go over to the other thread to say it there too.
Oh, and feel better soon Amy and T.

Witty M, in the Magick Forest thread we are struggling with a parallel reality, or surreality. An alien skin -- created by a certain mega-corporation whose logo is a pair of mouse ears -- is creating havoc with continuity as well as identity. My memory is hazy, but I think there is a giant mushroom involved, whose sides, when eaten, make one bigger and smaller.
And now I'm off to go shopping for presents.

Actually, though I don't agree with several of his points, I thought that was quite a well done speech. Certainly the best I've seen him do. I'm glad he didn't declare all out war on Afganistan. I'm glad he recognized that most Muslims are good people. I'm glad he acknowledged that most the people living in Afganistan are civilians who are merely hungry.
I wish he hadn't claimed that they hate us because of our freedom. While that may be partially correct I am sure there are many, many more reasons, and it makes us look elitist (which, I think, is another reason they hate us anyway).
I wish he didn't seem so rip-roarin' to get into armed conflict.
I wish he hadn't used the metaphore "..the unmarked grave of discarded lies."
But regardless of my political disagreements I think this speech was one heck of a lot more statesmanlike than the one I saw him give on his energy policy. The whole time he was talking about ways to balance environmentalism and still drill in ANWAR, and he had this big smirk on his face like he was pulling one over everyone in the room and he was trying to hold in his maniacle laughter.

Okay, so my "two weeks" guess was wrong. But I DID predict someone else would show up, didn't I?

To tell the truth, I didn't watch Mr Bush's speech. I shall read it on CNN tomorrow and it will no doubt sound better in my mind than it would have from his lips. Instead, I watched The Vicar of Dibley and had a good .
You'll have to tell me all about him tomorrow, sea! At least you have a way to stay awake in the class now.
G'night!

Time to go write yet another paper...way too many this month.

Mrs Clinton, was struggling to keep the bile down during Dubya's speech. Quite amusing to watch.

You ~do~ realise that he doesn't write his own speeches, don't you?
I agree that Infinite Justice is a dumb and illogical name for an operation. The Secretary for Thinking Up Inspiring Names for Military Actions ought to resign.
Or could it possibly be that several high-ranking officials were actually sitting in a smoke-damaged room in the Pentagon, trying to think up a great name for whatever it is we actually do?

I just nipped over to the Magick Forest thread and discovered that my last post was moderated. The word "ast**d" (the original had no asterisks) has been changed to "b*****d." This completely ruins one of the plot lines, which involved the loss of the letter 'b' to the Typo Monster.

Write them? I'm not convinced he can even read them.
I think the Whitehouse should sub-contract mission name development to a Hollywood studio or some video game developers.

If 43 can't use the word 'crusade,' I don't see why you should be allowed to use the word 'mission.'

Thanks for the offer, but they said I shouldn't at the AA meeting.
Lil, I don't know if it helps with your immediate problem, but bad should be safe.

No, that has a 'b' in it.
I'm not in a tissy, I'm just hugely entertained by that moderation, and feeling a bit silly, glad that the biggest part of my homework is done.
Tea, Mycroft? I think you've stopped in before, haven't you?

Presumably the speech writer's "the hour for military action is near" replaced Dubya's high noon reference
