My search turns up nothing but French geneological information. Favardin seems to be a family name.

The Edinburgh tattoo did visit NZ last year. They were the star attraction at the opening of a new sports stadium.

i'd help but i don't know of many chateaux... although there is one in the town where my ancestors come from, Langeais. smiley - bigeyes

just got back from a shopping expedition with my mom... new clothes and new luggage for college too! yay!

my sister is demanding permission to have a ferret, and my mom will hear none of it. it's kinda funny. i plan to get a ferret when i get my apartment, if only to make my sister insane with jealousy. smiley - devil

B17, i'd tease you about your "stay away from the water" comment, but i've been forbidden to use the "T" word. smiley - winkeye

Thanks for the help, Babel and d'Elaphant. Maybe I'll find it someday. I've even tried searching the ICONOS site. I guess I could email them, but I don't speak French. They probably won't know where the castle is. It's one picture out of millions for them.

If I ever get to France, finding that little castle (chateax?) will be the first thing I do.

Does H2 have any French researchers?

I know that there used to be French researchers around here, but I've not heard much from any that I knew were French ever since the BBC moved into town. Until we get some French-speaking mods, it'll probably stay that way. smiley - sadface

Does anyone remember where Alien was from, BTW? I can never remember. Not seen her around in a while, either.

Oh, and Sea, I might take offense to that remark about Transylvania, but I've already found a person who's willing to show up in the castle at midnight everynight and drag chains around (I mean that in all honesty, as soon as I buy a castle he's there!). So, since it already looks like I might head in that direction someday, I guess I can't complain.

Too bad Deep 13 went out of buisiness. I bet that I could've gotten an internship at such a prestigious organization of mad science.

If a question about the French castle is posted at "Ask h2g2", there should be a response...

There are two skunks in my garden, noshing on fallen plums. On the one hand, I am very glad I swept the patio today and pushed all the fallen fruit down to the far end. On the other hand, the fallen plums have been fermenting and I am deeply concerned about the consequences of having a pair of drunken skunks knocking around in the courtyard. What if they fall asleep under my car? What if they get amorous with the garage cat?

I had no idea that skunks had such gorgeous tails. They go up about two feet in the hair and the hair fans out like a peacock feather. They are bigger than I realised, too.

Skunks, if not disturbed, can be quite friendly and mannerly visitors. Just don't suprise them. My mom, when she was young, used to make friends with wild skunks, to the point that they would bring their young ones to meet her!smiley - bigeyes

Tell me everything you know about how to fail to surprise a skunk.

And hello, Ralph! You wouldn't happen to own a labrador, would you?

Twoseas! I haven't even charged poor old Ridge for the two days I spent there readying the database because I regard the job as incomplete. I did a rewrite of the code, too, to take out work habits... but you know, I never heard anything from your office mate, and then things became seriously fraught and all my heavy duty computer equipment is in a container in Lakeland. Tell Keith to email the sprynet addy. I told him already, but he may have forgotten.

Sorry,no labrador.

About the skunks, nothing sudden, terribly different, or threatening. If they have been around there for a while they are probably already fairly used to you, even if you haven't seen them before. They know they have superior weaponery, just don't push them to use it and they (probably) won't. Just remember they are, after all, wild and therefore at least somewhat unpredictable.

And you could always trysmiley - grovel!...smiley - biggrin

I have a wonderful view of my coalshed from my window. If I stand on tip-toes I can see the tops of the Cheviots. The novelty wears off after a couple of minutes...

Has anyone seen my egg-timer? It used to appear after I clicked a link, but now it's gone. Perhaps it was automatically uploaded to Microsoft Headquarters for urgent maintainence?

tea, bacon, eggs (fried and soft boiled), black pudding, lamb's kidneys, toast, butter, sausages, vpb and cigar, beer, claret, brandy, vpiazzab and enormous bib pls

And don't get any silly ideas Ludwig....

I have a view of the bushes outside my window to the south, and to the east, I can see the neighbors air conditioner. But that is why I have blinds on my windows. I value my personal privacy and hate when people can see in to my bedroom. From my front room window I can see Mount Olympus (in SLC not in Greece of course) and a bit of the Wasatch range. From the roof you can see out over the north end of the valley and see the lights. I am too chicken to go up to the roof however so I rarely get to see that.

Are we talking about views now......
From my kitchen window I can see an incredible green garden (only green, no sheep), from the livingroom (what's left of it) I can see the bay of Sandviken, a lot of rooftops, large parts of a fjord, an island, and the North Sea behind it. From my bedroom I can see a steep forest-clad hillside.

Affy, Alien is from Finland. Haven't seen her for a while either.

From my window I see the garden. Half of it is cut lawn, the rest runs wild. A few trees and then it's the other houses. Not much but it'll do till I can get to live somewhere else.
Not too tired this morning as I managed to go to bed early and get a good nights sleep for a change smiley - smiley
