*Teleports in, looking terribly happy.*
Ah, glad you're feeling better, Amy. I was worried when I saw the top of this page (or would that be the last page, as I believe this post will appear at the top of a new one). Remember to stare back with fierce intensity.
Heya Styx, how's tricks?
Why am I happy? Well, my ten week holiday just started this moment! All exams are now over with, and apart from book return days at school, that's it! No more school, no more obligatory work for ten weeks!
Matina, a cup of my special tea please.
*Slumps into a sofa, feeling particularly worn out.*

Yay! Just the panicy wait for the results now. i seem to remember my dad finding them more exciting than me. At the moment, though, I think you deserve a good long lie down, preferably in the sun. Enjoy.

Phil Posted Jun 22, 2001
Does Chris need a tea towel for his lie down like Loony?
35Xth Conversation at Lil's
Chris Tonks Posted Jun 22, 2001
Cheers, I think I will lie down.
A tea towel? No, I'll stick with the hammock.
Exam results come out on the 23rd of August, and I'm away in Italy at that time. I'll get home at the weekend to find four envelopes (for four exam boards) in the floor, which I'll gather up and run upstairs with.

A tea towel is good for alcohol related lie downs. If it is just a simple lie in the sun, I recomend a Panama hat over the face.
Oh, Prof. Abi is running an End of Exams hoohaa, the link is in her name.

Does your postman throw the letters hard, or is your floor quite soft
Got one parcel this morning that I've been waiting for

I'm feeling much better but my right eye has been referred to the doctor.
I also spent a *lot* of money on new specs today.

Phil Posted Jun 22, 2001
What's the problem with your eye? I hope it's not too bad.

Gday everybody and helloooo Styx! I am still wearing the stone you gave me. Matina, make sure we keep ginger ale and cherries on hand!
Chris, I'm glad to hear exams are over for you, at least for this year. Do enjoy the hammock.
Amy, so glad you're feeling better. What's this about an artists' guild, and how can we get a logo blobbed? I'll be over to look at the pirate straightaway.
But first, everybody, please meet Concorde, my new desktop. It's extremely fast (1.7 GHz) and has a very swoopy front panel, but it had some difficulties burning in (crash on shutdown), so that's how it got its name. *Concorde purrs quietly*
Re the house, the teacher couple have made an offer. And I feel overwhelmed by all the work I have yet to do. How will I get everything into boxes???
A moment of silence please on the occasion of the death of John Lee Hooker

There are several John Lee Hooker stories on the Beeb today. Start at http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/entertainment/music/newsid_1401000/1401666.stm
Yes, Lil, I suggested to Peta some weeks ago that an Artists volunteer group would be A Good Idea. Mark agreed. Peta says she will set something up after the London meet on 7th July. I hope Spirit (Sri) will be involved in this too.

Ah, can't do the alcohol thing yet, Marv, but I'll grab myself a hat from somewhere.
And I'll go and look for that End of Exams page you mentioned...
I don't actually know what our postman does, OP. All letters seem to arrive intact though.
Barring the crash, that new computer of yours sounds great, Lil! 1.7 GHz - that's the fastest processor I've ever heard of, um, in VR. No one can beat the processors I use in the Space Station!
Alas, I heard about John Lee Hooker this morning. Didn't really follow him, but it's a sad afair. Still, I heard he died peacefully.
*Doesn't know if that's an appropriate smiley, but...*
An Artists volunteer group, Amy? Sounds most interesting!
*Thinks about this for a while, and then shakes his head vigorously as he remembers how much work he has to do anyway.*

Am I glad that I didn't sleep this long IRL. I had a really weird dream. There was this tap-dancing penguin, headed towards a very steep precipice. I called out to him, but the penguin just kept dancing towards it. I was getting panicked, but the giant squid told me not to be worried. The penguin fell off, and it started floating towards the horizon, probably because it couldn't fly. I wonder what it meant.

Chris Tonks Posted Jun 22, 2001
Maybe that dream decoder I gave Lil months ago could help you.
The penguins may come from encountering MaW in a forum somewhere, the giant squid probably resulted from Ultros appearing one too many times in role-playing threads, and the floating on the horizon bit would be from when Arthur and Ford are picked up by the Heart of Gold - his legs drift off into the sunset.
*h2g2 is now very slow for the Professor, for once. *

Morning all!
I was very sad about Mr Hooker. I am a great fan of his and always will be. I also mourn the loss of Carroll O'Connor.
Prof, congrats on the end of your exams! I have to say that the wait you folks over there have to get your scores would have driven me insane. I always wanted to know how I did right away.
Amy, I'm glad to hear that you're happier and I'm sorry about your eye. Here's hoping that everything goes well.
*eyes Munchkin's chockies, notices that they are still sitting there and snags one*
Yum! Thanks, Munchers.

Morning all. I cannot stay long as I have to get to work. I have in my possesion the boxed set of the Robotech Macross series on DVD and I need to get home to watch them! Alas I have not yet left for work. Prof, glad to hear that you are done with exams. Amy I hope all goes well. Lil, I am insanely jealous of your proccesor my 900 needs an upper I fear.
I got a package in the mail yesterday from my good freinds TM and Shazz in .nl... It is a copy of Solid Air (TM's band) "Analog". Good stuff, if any of you European h2g2ers ever get the chance, go see Solid Air and lte me know how you like them live. They are great on CD.

*remembers the choccies as she goes over to the sideboard to get out the dream decoder and grabs a couple on the way back to the sofa*
Let's see... *punches in keywords. The decoder comes to life and bleebles briefly, then hums as a printout rolls out the top*
Here's what it says: Your dream is strongly reminiscent of the Tarot Card of the Fool, which is the First Trump, numbered Zero because it is the end of an old cycle and the beginning of a new one. The Fool strides off the edge of the cliff, trusting the future not to let him fall. Thus it compares with what Kierkegaard called the "leap of faith." Your symbolism of a tap-dancing penguin shows first that you can rely on your sense of humor and quick wit to help you through sticky situations and also shows your association with tap-dancing animals such as Mindspring. You may also have chronic troubles with dial-up connections.
Frankly I'm worried about the squid.
*looks up from the paper* Is there anything you'd like to share with us, Affi?

Were the squid inflatable, Affy?

Dial up connections...
Must go and pull up the machine room floor to lay some cables to ports that Mario has installed this week (yes he really did look like the plumber ).

Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Jun 22, 2001
I don't want to know if the squid is inflatable, thank you.
Marv, I can't tell you how jealous I am that you have Solid Air! What do you think of them?
