well, I am doing my famous triple chocolate chip rich dark chocolate sponge pudding
and the others are each bringing a pudding of their own to share

One good thing is that we all know how to pronounce Ændr now. I explained how to say coelacanth too.

WOW!
Well, how about a real-life h2g2 pudding party sometime at your place?
And you can make all the pudding, and everyone else can, umm, bring some beer or something...
Sound fair?
OK, maybe some negotiation required.
Anyway, I'm going to do my laundry now. S'pose I'd better do something today!

Rats! I'm miffed that I missed it now. Can't h2g2 be like the Queen and have two birthdays? (Or 3, if you count the virtual one).
Maybe next time substitute softball with mud-wrestling?

I don't drink beer (or any other alcohol for that matter) so I don't really gain much from the arrangement.
Coelacanth, you didn't explain it to me, but I am guessing you pronounce it see-(la)-canth? based on my knowledge of ancient langs

So DE what did you expect my voice to sound like? Mildly curious that's all
The last of the people to leave the pub left about 23:30 (when they finally kicked us out!)
Those left were Me, Mark, Peta, Kheldar, Shazz, TM, Beeline and MrCynic. Hardcore

There are arrangements for an unnofficial meet-up happening in Portsmouth in a month, anyone who wants to come is welcome.
And for the record, I _DID_ have a towel! It's just, well, it kinda got a little wet...

How long does it take to get from London to Portsmouth?
Post-party stuff
Bluebottle Posted May 14, 2000
It takes about an hour and a half to get from London to Southampton, so I guess it'll be about the same, maybe 2 hours. Just make sure you don't get a stopping train, 'cos there are an awful lot of stops!
There aren't that many details ATM, though...

YEah, I would probably get a fast service from Reading though.

Bluebottle Posted May 14, 2000
From Reading I think the best route is to change at Guildford. I've done that a few times, but I can't remember off hand how long it took.
Still, Network Southeast is reliable, unlike Virgin and Connex...

*Thinks*
Isn't there a direct route from Reading or is that run by Virgin?
Post-party stuff
Bluebottle Posted May 14, 2000
I'm not actually sure... Last time I travelled from Portsmouth Harbour to Reading there wasn't, but that was a few years ago now. There's a direct Virgin to Southampton, I'm not sure about Portsmouth.

The Railtrack website says that there is a direct train from Reading to Portsmouth. It takes about 1.5h.
Try it for yourself!
