I like the article, but I am still pretty confused. I think I need a more beginner's explaination of MUD.

The first 4 paragraphs of this are good, as a historical perspective on MUDs, and are accurate as far as my memory serves, they would better written in English, and need annotating for the un-initiated. 
My concerns however are about the last paragraph - this gives a date of early 1991, but the piece is dated 2000, which suggests its been copied...... 
If it hasn't been copied then it need a lot of bringing up to date....

All the corrections above are moot, as this is simply a copy of the jargon file entry on MUDs (see <./>http://www.catb.org/jargon/html/entry/MUD.html</.>

Since plagurism is against the <./>HouseRules</.> this page has now been removed from the guide. The original author possibly didn't want to call attention to this fact.
