always wanted to say that...

A delightful piece, a good light touch of humour and warmth.
Very welcoming, is Bend, for the hitchhiker.

Just a few nits, typo-wise:

criticize ~ -ise, I believe.*
central oregon - cap O
Of course their~there are bars all over the place.
'There are a number of different waterfoul making a number of absurd noises' Love the imagery here, but it's waterfoWl.
calenders ~ -ars
reggea ~ reggae, mon!
thursday - cap T
Bring your towell ~ towel
late August to Early september - discombobulated caps
there is a tourist center ~ 'centre'*

I'm a Californian glassware believer, been @h2g2 about a year, slowly catching on to the quaint affectations of spelling that prevail here...hence the *...

It looks good. You paint a very full picture of the town - some nice humour also! Well done!

My biggest concern, which is quite small really, would be about the use of monetary amounts - they will quickly go obsolete due to inflation (it can take some time for an entry to get into the Edited Guide, and when its there it is somewhat difficult to change). I would leave the actual amount out, and just say - it doesn't cost much, etc.

Also on the same vein, Pat might leave Shari's the meantime, or maybe not...

The one thing I think would help it along a bit would be some links to relevant local websites -- for exmaple, does the city have an official website? Ah, just did a search, and here are some good ones:
