Hell I cried at the cinema when watching LoTR:RoTK, specifically the bit where Frodo's mean to Sam and tells him to go back. I also made stupid childish jokes about Golum's line of 'The fat Hobits wants it master', I continued it with 'He wants it up...' and if you cant work out how I ended that then you must be the sweetest, most innocent, person I've ever spoken to. That or a retard smiley - winkeye

I think I can guess how that ended smiley - winkeye but I wouldn't want to give away the plot.

Sweet, innocent? Nope. But it's now 11:45pm and I'm off to bed...

Sam and Frodo are *so* sleeping together, it's unavoidable. Look at the way they act throughout.

Have you ever seen Cassandra's Secret Diaries of [insert name here] from Lord of the Rings? These are absolutely hilarious ...

Oh and by the way, one of my housemates cannot stand to hear that Frodo and Sam could be gay lovers ... so we mention it as often as possible! smiley - evilgrin

Back to the Gaydar thing. Is it just me, or does Gaydar only work on someone you'd actually be interested in if they did turn out to be gay? I was thinking about this today. At lunchtime I went into a bookshop, and the gaydar definitely worked with regard to the new shop-boy. On the bus on the way home it definitely didn't work, and I was shocked when the driver made a pass at me smiley - blush. The shop-boy is very cute, but a bit too young for me; the bus driver is not interesting to me. So - does gaydar (when it's fully plugged in) only operate when we want it to operate? Do we filter out people we don't want to know about? Or have I had too much smiley - redwine? (Yes, that seems likely.)

I dunno ... maybe it only does work (properly or not as the case may be) when we find someone who we'd like to "get to know better". In my case, though, it almost always seems to register for guys who are unavailable (because they're straight and/or already attached). smiley - erm As far as I can see, the only reliable method of finding a gay guy would be to go to a gay village or bar or club.

My gay-dar only works in reverse, it makes me think straight guys are gay. Unfortunately it's particularly effective when I fancy these guys

Sad but true - the gay ghetto does have its uses. It's just a pity that the ghetto has nothing to do with my life as such, nothing to do with work or friends or flitting about the country at the drop of a hat, as I tend to do. Ghetto conversation tends to be about alcohol, clothes, parties, Kylie's latest effort - but not about anything that matters in the great scheme of things.

All this thinking is no good for me, I'm sure.

Sorry, feeling a bit flat today.

Ivan.

That's the main malfunction with mine - although it also goes off when I find a gay guy who already has a b/f (who's not necessarily with them at the time either).

I dunno though - once you've covered those topics, you can go into things like politics, high-brow culture, love, sex - although admittedly you've gotta get through the crass ones first!

'Tis the way of the world, to become a mature respected member of society you must first become a teenager. To become intelligent and respected internationally you must first emigrate from America

Becoming a teenager: been there, done that, bought, washed and ironed the T-shirt!

Emigrating from America: you tell that to one of my research colleagues!
