Are we getting any closer to seeing this project completed? I've got almost a year's worth of dust on the first of my three contributions.

AAArrrggghhh!!! <---(the sound of broelan being dragged kicking and screaming back to her responsibilities)
Well, not *really* kicking and screaming per se. More mortally embarassed that after the enthusiasm I had for this at its start I have spent not nearly enough time promoting and working on it. And for those who *have* been working on it I offer my profound apologies.
After returning from my maternal sabbatical I've found I have less time than I used to for h2g2, and I've been spending it more in PR, the Underguide and the Post.
After the discussions about the future of the site on the Front Page this week, I find I'm wanting to finish this more than ever, as I think it will really be something unique in the guide, and more unique than you'd find on similar sites.
So I'm back -- with renewed enthusiasm!
I've updated the page with links to the relevant entries and feedback conversations (I've read them all, too). I'm going to start working on my subject (Fanny Brice), and I'm going to go round to those who have volunteered for other subjects that haven't been finished yet and see if they're still being worked on or if I should free them up for others who may like to do them.
Thanks all, for bearing with me, and for not letting me off the hook.

When it is finished, perhaps we can move onto a similar suggestion put forward by several people, that of the names checked in Madonna's "Vogue". I put together a list a while back: A3435996
Just an idea!

I'm surprised that there aren't already entries about the celebs in that list. There definitely ought to be.
In the meantime, I'll take a stab at Caryl Chessman.

Hi opti. I must admit that I haven't started the Chessman thing yet.

I wouldn't worry if you go to the Done Too Soon project and look at one of my postings there you'll find that lots of other people haven't written their entries either. I'm wondering whether I should follow this up or leave it to author Broelan.

Sadly, the prospect of this project reaching completion is not at all encouraging. At some point, I think, we have to face facts and admit that it is never likely to be completed.
I took on Chessman, my 4th submission, to help move things along, even though I'm not really interested in the subject - which is probably obvious to anyone who read it. Although I hate to be the one to pull the plug, I also hate to see my other contributions collecting dust, which poor old 'Ho Chi Minh' has been doing now for well over a year. Sometimes one has to be cruel to be kind and I think this is one of those times.
To those who contributed: Sorry. I hope to see you and your fine Entries in Peer Review.
To those who didn't:

Hi JTG
I think you may be right. But as a last throw, I'll alert the Scouts, and see if someone might want to pick up from broe.

Good idea, Pin. I've just submitted my four entries to PR, but they can always be withdrawn if someone wants to take up the project.

Shouldn't think that the Entries being in PR or the EG beyond will matter.
An umbrella Entry on the song could link them - that might have been broe's plan anyway, with Entries on Mozart, Christ etc already in the EG.
Hey, now it's in PR, I guess I'll have to be Scoutly and find out who Caryl Chessman was. You don't give it much of a build-up, though

From reading the comments I have been saddened about the idea of pulling the plug on this project which I don't feel the need for as such. There are a lot of people that make contributions to the guide I think. I just believe that this project and Coelacanth's project need to be greatly highlighted say on the contribute pages and in . Like a lot of the counties have been snapped up. I think you are right in that it doesn't matter how far these entries have been processed. Anyway thats my rant over as such.

To be honest, the very limited research I did for Chessman didn't result in much of a biography. In fact, I might rework it as an Entry on lovers' lanes if it's judged in PR to be too weak.
Get busy, Scout.

No worries. You weren't butting in.
I'd like to see the project finished too. On the other hand, nothing much seems to be happening to make me think that it will be.
