Hallo,

does someone know the British and/or American equivalent to

"Rechtsanwaltsfachangestellte"?

Reason: my mum told me today, that my niece is thinking of going to Canada or England for a month after having finished the above mentioned apprenticeship - to better her English and get experience in a British or Canadian solicitors office.

(Canada is one choice, because we do have family there, where she could live during that time).

And does anyone know, if solicitors in Canada or England do take personnel for just one month, sort of practical training scheme or something the like?

I think the word you're looking for is "paralegal"

My niece just phoned me and told me she was planning that, and asked for help (escpecially since I knew someone in England) - so any advice concerning this matter is welcome

If you read the forum entries on LEO, you also find a "legal secretary", is that more what you're looking for?

I know, but for some things it is not wrong to have some help (especially things like applications, they are tricky enough in German, and I know many people who could do with some help there)

I wrote a post to B'Elana to ask where I can complain. This is just too much, yiksing a single word in a place that is about foreign languages

I would love to know who did this - and why.
It is in some way ridiculous - and would be a very German bureaucratic way to act
