*An inventor walks in to the Captain's office.*

INVENTOR : I've just invented this helmet that makes us totally unaffected by all types of mind control. It also indicates when someone is trying to use mind control.

CAPTAIN : Good work Mr. Inventor. Go to this address and get them mass produced.

*Inventor leaves and returns some time later wearing a helmet and carrying another.*

INVENTOR : This is your helmet, Captain. *Hands it over.* The entire population had been issued with one.

CAPTAIN : Great work Mr. Inventor. Have this medal.

*The Captain is fed up with Lorelei hanging about the Space Port in a coma, so he instructs one of his officers to put her in her ship and to get the ship off-planet.*

*The Captain wonders where the afternoon as disappeared to.*

*He can remember coming in to work after lunch and doing some paperwork, but there seems to be a big gap after that.*

*He reaches over to the office security recording system and backs it up to a time-index just after lunch.*

*He watches, amazed, as the recent encounter with the strangers is replayed.*

*When it is finished, he thinks for a while then concludes that he has been the victim of mind control. He consults with other members of his staff who also seem to have had a blank afternoon.*

*He compiles a detailed report, attaches a copy of the recording and transmits it to the Council in Erianna.*
