How many 'oldies' left?
Baron Grim Posted Apr 28, 2004
That was a banner day. 35k plus signed up the same day. What was I doing at home at 10:25 GMT-6 on a Thing?... I had a job... I can't think of any holidays then... Labor day is on a Monday...
Well anyway, I'm sure it had something to do with the launch of the Starship Titanic.

Yes, but I didn't realize there were quite so many people registered on Titanic's website . I arrived on the same day

Jim, you said: "so when people who had given us their email address previously came to the site and signed up, they got one of the pre-registered accounts, and a spuriously early sign-up date."
I'm crushed! So may I assume that I registered on the launch date, then?

Your registration date is 19th march 1999
It is just a computer, perhaps a bug?
How many 'oldies' left?
Witty Moniker Posted Apr 28, 2004
Yes, I know, Traveller. Jim's post #10 in this explains why certain researchers had pre-assigned U-numbers that are dated prior to April 28, 1999.

I still think it's neat that I and so many others officially logged on on 9.9.99!!

"Indeed, evon on the records you are the first of the pre registered using the account, next is 'Oscar' < U168512 > (pending moderation apparently a Rupert rupture)"

So many 5-digit people here!
I am getting to feel myself old on h2g2 these days but here I am still a baby.

Five years eh, Don't time fly?
I too signed up on the evening of the Tomorrow's World broadcast and have been checking in fairly regularly ever since.
Happy birthday H2.

I can't figure out exactly when I signed up, but it was somewhere in 1999... Probably July or August. I found it by clicking on the babel fish link in Alta Vista... and to my delight, this site popped up.

Neat! I wondered how the ACEs knew when the new guys showed up... So I guess the SEF graph is inaccurate then.

I might change back to frames just for old times sake.
Same h2g2 registration date as Mina by pure coincidence, 16th September 1999. Many things have changed both here and IRL since then

I am always having problems remembering when I signed up, may 2000 it was... Usually I ask Ottox if I need to know, he knows that stuff.

From your U# I can tell that you signed up just before me on 9.9.99, so I would definitely say you are an "oldie".
